Honestly, being in elite company just feels good. Would be so awesome to pull one of these two, let alone both. Love this new ear of Illini Football.

Everyone tries to tell me that Sutter is SEC bound … But I just don’t get that vibe from the kid … No denying PSU has a great TE sell … Wish Rusk could’ve played this year and we would’ve had that to really sell …

And with how close him and JC are … Why not be different ? Why not do it at home ? Why not pave the way for the next elite talent in state to stay home ?

The Illini will have this falls litmus test for Rusk before signing on the dotted line, correct? Things could always change, but yes had Rusk played, and played well, it may have made it a little less complicated.

Singleton I got told it’s between Ohio State, Michigan and Illinois … With Illinois and Ohio State at the top …

Sutter is Penn State, Bama, Illinois, Ole Miss …
That’s why I’m still cautiously optimistic about Singleton- between us and OSU, his path to playing time with all the top CB they have is unclear for a year or two and they haven’t been a great developer of CB talent

We’re DB U and he’s going to have a good chance to play right away here

I’ve seen our insiders seem overly confident about a recruit that ends up not coming here one too many times to feel any confidence when they’re saying they aren’t worried about something. Now, to be fair, I misread this on first glance and thought they were implying that they weren’t worried that he might go somewhere else. Instead I can understand now that they’re saying he just won’t go to Colorado. Might still go elsewhere but it won’t be there.

I hope the kid goes wherever makes most sense for him, and then I hope it’s Illinois, but I’ve seen plenty of times that our people in the know say we have something locked up and then as soon as they’re wrong we get the “recruiting is fluid” or “money changes things.” I’m not getting my hopes up until they enroll anymore.

Auburn can’t even get close to our NIL number for JC …
What's the ballpark for a 4-star high schooler NIL? Cant imagine paying 6 figures in CFB where you're unlikely to start. Basketball is one thing but maybe you're paying to get them in and hope they stay on.

NIL offers are as fluid as recruiting commits. Auburn could wake up tomorrow and decide to offer him Bryce Underwood money. Obviously that's very unlikely but a program can miss on a few other targets and decide a remaining target is a must-win.

That said, if Illinois' offer to JC is that enticing, it's a great sign.

I have this gut feeling that something internal happened here. Like we didn’t offer enough money to keep Dre from leaving or some other conflict. Whatever the case is, it’s very disappointing. They really his replacement to be a homerun hire now if they want to keep the momentum going.
