Can't ignore the sheer number of offers from Barnett. He has lots of offers in the past 90 days too - Bama, Tulane, West Virginia, North Carolina, Purdue, Maryland, South Carolina, Nebraska, Penn State, and Auburn. We also know Bama, Tulane, and Penn State were awfully serious because they had scheduled officials with Barnett. Florida and Florida State brought him on campus recently for unofficial.
He has more FBS and P4 offers than any other recruit in this class. Not saying he's the best, just pointing that out. Excellent additional and obvious top RB target. Follow the offers, but it's interesting how Rivals/On3 thinks this is one of the top 5 commits in Illinois' class, while 247 views him as the confirmed worst.
Might have to wait-and-see. Also has a Penn State official visit scheduled.

Given his mostly missed season due to injury, wouldn’t be surprised if those on that offer list turn up their recruiting efforts for him once he’s shown he’s fully healthy and regained form. But he did say he was 1000% committed, so probably nothing to worry about.

that was then, this is now: in the past, we pretty much always lost out on kids we had lead for if/when the big boys got involved. I could get used to this
