You guys have a good board. Most of them are money grabs or set up on 1993 interfaces (just check the Mizzou board if you want a headache) VolNation is a good board like this too.

Oh, we know about the running atrocity that Miznoz fans inhabit.

Optimism and desparation are going to do wild things to your fanbase. For instance, Vols fans could make accounts here, start rumors, and then point to that as smoke. Coincidentally, welcome to the forums. I wonder what wild circumstances brought you here, of all places.

That is pretty much Internet Arson.

5 days after Altmeyer announced he was staying, the Illini took a transfer who was looking for PT and could've gotten it at Wake Forest. Why did he come to Illinois?

little known fact: Hampton knew Nico was bolting and Altmyer was going to Tennessee, 4 months before anyone else. he's a latter day Nostradamus

My thought exactly.

The question becomes why can professional leagues have so much tighter controls and regulations in place and the NCAA can’t? The ONLY thing that will change all of this is if people stop watching and attending games. We know that won’t happen.

I wonder if at some some colleges and universities branch off from the NCAA and form a new, truly amateur, athletic association that focuses on the fundamental values of student athletes participating in athletics as part of the broader educational experience. Honestly, at this point, I would be drawn to that. It’s just a complete bastardization of sports in general that will continue filtering down to younger kids.

Because professional leagues have 'Employees' . . . . Schools don't want 'Employees' . . .

The Cat's already out of the bag on this, seriously doubt they can put it back. The precedent has been set and any attempt to step backwards in time on this will result in a flurry of lawsuits.
What would be the basis for lawsuits re: an eligibility rule change if it applied to every school and athlete? How would “a year on the bench after a transfer” differ legally from existing NCAA rules re: redshirting? Or rules restricting transfers to portal windows? Why not sue to be allowed to transfer at any time? To play for unlimited seasons?

Anyone transferring could still play just as many games and seasons, but not consecutively. It would still permit transfers but both the schools and athletes would be much more selective. We need a damper.

Nah....don't want him now.
Well, given the number of transfers in both sports that make their decisions based on previously established relationships in High School, it would make sense in 2025 to continue positive relationships with every recruit.

You are only taking into account the upper echelon of athletes at good schools. You are completely disregarding the lower end schools and the 90% of the rest of the athletes at any given school. That is just not something a school wants to deal with. The end of the bench womens soccer player will be entitled to the same treatment/options/safeguards/insurance/healthcare/benefits/resources/etc... as the #1 QB on a national title contender. You cannot make one of them an employee without making ALL of them employees. The compliance, oversight, administrative structure/HR/support/employees/etc it would take to manage this at every D1 school in the U.S. would rival the U.S. government in size!!! This will NOT get fixed until .gov steps in and sets some guidelines, and even then, I guarantee chaos of a different type will ensue.... The NCAA not taking the bull by the horns 10-15 years ago on this mess has doomed things, I suspect, for the next decade at least. I am one of those people who will cease to be a fan if it takes that long. At my age muscle-mass is decreasing yearly, no way I can 'hang-on' that long without letting go... 🫨

Gotta do better than that. He's an Illinois kid that committed back in December before any of this Tennessee stuff. You look like one of the Volunteer fans reaching for anything. Not very innocent of you, good try though.
