I've actually been thinking for a while that if anything arrests the upward movement of college basketball NIL deals it's going to be an explosion in the amount of money being spent on the football end of the equation. A lot more players to pay, and people love football in a way basketball can't match.

But yeah, there's no way around a school's football and basketball teams competing for the same resources.
It does seem like the SEC powerhouses exist at such an expansive financial scale on the football side that the runoff is powerful in the comparatively cheaper world of CBB though. We shall see if that continues.
Yes, I think what could happen is you see schools start to choose one or the other. Kentucky and Duke for example are always going to spend on basketball. So maybe their football programs fare even worse going forward. More programs probably choose to go the other way. There may be a few with the resources for both, but I wonder if even they'll start to feel the pressure to pick if schools that go all in on football, or all in on basketball, start winning more consistently.

Their football has regressed to the mean (still excellent, but not their peak from 2008-2019) and their fanbases seem to have diversified their "investments" based on coach on the hot seat, underwhelming football seasons, etc., to other sports (Oklahoma, Auburn, Florida, Miss. State, South Carolina, Arkansas, Alabama). I'm not sure I would classify this as having so much money that they are spending on other programs, especially now that roster costs have exponentially increased since the introduction of NIL.
who knows. he seems like a great kid that made a decision we dont like. We are hardly out of the picture for just the next 18 months where he will still be in high school. kids change commitments all the time before they set foot on campus as a frosh
but this I know : the odds of him playing 3 or 4 years at one school are small . for not just him, but for anyone playing qb.
If a 5* 2028 QB wants to look at Nebby, Ruhle will not hesitate to recruit over TT. nor would any other coach
Backup QB is always a gamble, even at the highest levels of the sport. The tricky part is how much are you going to invest in a backup you hope never has to see the field?

Still don’t understand why the kid doesn’t wait. It was Michigan, then Illini, then Nebraska.
Still has another 8-12 months for a normal QB commit I think.
Maybe they lock in an offer and use it as benchmark for the future.

Convince Beliema and staff get a QB or have the QB of the future. Quality QBs in the portal each year. ILLINOIS more appealing than 2-3 years ago.
I see no point in committing this soon or taking commitments this soon. The kid isn't held to the commitment, other coaches don't stop recruiting the kid, money is going to get thrown all over the place and opinions magically change. The chances of that commitment sticking is 50/50. That applies to every high profile high school recruit.
How long did it take our committed DB to kick us to the curb for A & M?

He meets none of the requisites at the moment....I just love the guy, loved watching him play football, and think he embodies this current football turn around as much as anyone. Right there with Spoon and Newton.
