Naw probably something to do with corn although we do have a corn field right on campus

... it's a made-up excuse. No use trying to fit truth to it. The kid is a sophomore high school athlete that anticipates millions in football income. College major isn't part of the discussion beyond "there are as many good choices here as anywhere else".

If the dad really said or implied that, I hope it was with a wink. If he was seriously trying to pass it off as the reason, that's pretty embarrassing. If I had to guess, this family is getting their money's worth of free advice...

I’ll disagree here. It was disrespectful to throw both hats. Problem is the adults involved….this was such dumb schnitzel. This day and age if you don’t realize what disrespectful actions are, ya probably don’t have right folks around you.

Man, some of these posts are embarrassing. He's a young kid that made a bad choice, his Dad taught him to own it & apologize for it, and he will be a better man because of it. Some of yall need to get a life.
Yeah, but my suspicion is that it wasn’t just his choice and the apology seemed a little insincere. No one here seriously expected him to pick Illinois, just none of us expected him and his family to be so disrespectful to a coaching staff and program that did nothing but treat him well.

With an average of ~3 ranked opponents per year, that means Nebraska hasn’t beat a ranked team in 8-10 years.

We beat 4 last year alone:

#19 Kansas
#22 Nebraska
#24 Michigan
#15 South Carolina
Another stat:

We’ve played 13 ranked teams during Bret’s 4 year tenure. 6 of them came last year. We went 4-2 in those games and 10-3 overall.
