weren't we thinking Ohio State?

we've heard OSU, we've heard Bama, we've (presumably) heard Illinois. Pretty chancy recruitment (as it should be for one of the nations top prospects).
I think recruiting analysts go with ‘uncommitted prospect visiting on official, send out their the leader, if he commits then they’re right. In this case, last official scheduled and still uncommitted, then say bama is the leader, whether or not they know anything. OSU probably stated leader in case he committed soon after.
Now with last visit, commit date set, signs just point to bama. Easy to say bama leads and not know anything also

Just like guys on the Tennessee board were certain they had landed Altmyer?

SEC egos tell them nobody would chose the Illini over a them. They live on their past glory, which had some basis and a lot of hype. It still blinds them.

this homer hubris stuff applies to a stuff-ton of media types. but, I agree, the SEC group takes the cake

247 guys on bama board are pretty confident Sutter goes to bama.
While it is totally conceivable - maybe even likely - he heads to Bama, aren't Auburn people saying the same thing about Anderson and that we're even somewhat out the gate? I wouldn't bet we miss on both. While both schools are in the mix with each of those guys, don't think the SEC proclaimists should be taken with all that much of a certainty.

I get the defensive response here but we don't have a track record with the Bama 247 guys. We don't know if they're reasonable and rationale with their predictions or more the hype type. Without knowing that information, hearing their confidence doesn't add much to the conversation beyond what we already know (Sutter is strongly considering them).

Whoa. Previously I had only seen Farrell's injury reported as an ACL tear. That is a lot worse (about as bad as it gets).

yep. redshirt year most likely. only question is will it be a medical redshirt?
