I will ask. BB had a stable of stud running backs at Wisky. When are we going to start recruiting those guys to ILL? Our current backs are decent. Yes, our O line needs improvement too so that they can open those holes, but where’s the next Mendenhall?

It’s not thar easy to get a 5 star like Mendenhall. Also college football is a lot different now compared to when BB was at Wisky

I legitimately think Valentine is incredibly special. Our OL is just not a good run blocking unit. You put Valentine behind a good line and he'll set the B10 on fire. The kid is really good, he just doesn't have an elite offensive line.

I wonder to. Watching college football, you see any number of backs who are quick to/through the hole, avoid or power through second level contact and turn on the jets. And I'm not talking about just the blue bloods. I saw Feagin turn to the outside when the intended running lane was blocked. He looked like he should have been able to get to the corner but his change of direction and acceleration is glacial. I like Feagin. By all accounts, he's a good kid but he needs a clear path and (relatively) lots of time to build speed. Adding to that, he is injury prone. Laughery has the speed but is not shifty and is also injury prone. Valentine, while having the quickness and speed, is undersized. If our underclassmen have what we lack in our starters, I have to believe they would be getting reps by now. We need portal help now. Especially with Luke's departure.

Imo I like where his weight's at. You put any more on him and we might lose what makes him special. One cut and get down hill very quick. Very similar to Buck Irving. Him and Aidan our two head headed monster. In our team's best interest Feagin should move to defense

Why would a running back that avoids contact and can’t block be good on defense? Realistically if he was changing position us put him as a H back and create mismatches

We don’t need portal help at rb. We will spend on qb,ol, dline and db

Or, conversely, he'll be here next year, but there may be a conflict with wrestling.
I haven't read any reclass talk anywhere, though it would make sense in this case. Planning to make the drive over to Glenwood and see how good he is in person.

Really, there is probably multiple guys we will end up recruiting so even if he goes to a blue blood...still could end up seeing some future Illini
