Let's say Taylor commits to Illinois, sure seems like Bielema is further doubling down on junior college talent being the best blend of performance and cost. I would argue that the juco track record has been underwhelming both at Illinois and across P4. We also do not know the cost side of the equation and the staff may feel different about these specific players. Also, my projections for 2026 starting o-line:

LT - Schuster
LG - Henderson
C - McMillen
RG - Tuerk
RT - Taylor

This is unreasonably optimistic for the pieces already on the roster. Henderson's PFF grades have stagnated from last year but the surface stats are all better. He's allowed about the same amount of hurries, pressures, sacks as last year but he's played 250 more snaps this year. If Schuster is healthy for the spring, it's tough to ignore the consistent optimism from the staff. I'm not a fan of Knapik and I'm not confident in his future. Conversely, I'm way too high on Tuerk but I'm dying on this hill.

Don't know that Schuster will ever get healthy.

I think Hansen gets the nod over Turek.

JUCO OL: you're not wrong. that doesn't mean that our new crop is destined to underwhelm

Maybe he will get healthy and make a considerable jump, but if Schuster is a starting tackle, we are in trouble. I wouldn't want him to be a starting tackle on my backyard 37u football team

Francis Howell Central kid. Head coach is Malach Radigan who played for former Illinois lineman Bryan Koch at Francis Howell. Malach is all about faith and family. Hoping BB and staff left no stone unturned.
Illiniguys have mentioned that Brown would absolutely be an Illini if NIL wasn't a factor. But it's gonna be tough with who is sniffing around ready to throw serious money to him.

Any chance we steal Austin Simmons from Ole Miss? With Kiffin all but out the door, you could sell a darn good experiment in Altmyer (from the same school).
