Music to my earsWhich 10 is Bret talking about![]()
That says more about our Line than anything.
Closer to the ball...longer it takes to play. Don't take it from me... J Leman says it constantly on Illini Inquirer.
On the line...an 18 year old vs 22 year old with 3 or 4 years in a college S&C program? Stark difference. They might have some explosive characteristics that play but you SHOULD be able to run right at them and physically dominate. We obviously couldn't or (didn't) try to exploit that matchup.
There are freaks that disprove any rule of course...
Didn't we fire our best LB coach this past off-season? Buh?
Would love to get DawsonIf we have true freshman playing on the line we are in trouble. Unless you are a 5 star you shouldn’t be getting on the field until you’re a redshirt sophomore if you play on the line.
Here’s my recruits I think can play next year. I like guys like Tony B and Parker. I just don’t see them playing
1) Hankins
2) Eberhart
3) Rankin
4) Cam Thomas
5) Almirian Thomas
6) Alston
7) Grant
Jacas saw a lot of time as a freshmanThat says more about our Line than anything.

That's a superstar AND on a team devoid of depth.Jacas saw a lot of time as a freshman

There are and will always be exceptions. If we have a Jacas in this recruiting class...play him as a freshmen.
Maryland is the last program to emulate. They're playing freshmen because they have no other alternative, and Locksley is only still around because nobody wants to pay his buyoutI agree that you can't win in the B1G playing a lot of true freshmen. But it would accelerate their development. The fact that Maryland played some very promising freshmen is probably one reason Locksley was kept on at Maryland. Of course, the portal and NIL will determine next year's record more than anything. But if I squint, I could see a 6-6 or even a 5-7 being a building block if we have to play a lot of true freshmen as well as red-shirt freshmen.
We could use some of this attitude on D:
Hopefully we can land some good talent like this.
Neither does the staffI don't feel that good about our LB corp. I root for all of our players of course, but I'm sorry, I think our LBs have been disappointing.
I'm in favor of some changes there for next year. I view it as a position of significant upgrade needed.
Completely agree with this. Our players have taken a ton of terrible angles this year, part of it is the lack of overall speed, but an even larger problem in my opinion was that our players had no clue where their positioning was supposed to be in this defense and that comes down to coaching and scheme. I just don't think our players were prepared to play the defense that was being called. Our LBs game to game had no clue what zone to cover or where to drop back to. Our CBs were playing 10yds off the line of scrimmage allowing opposing WRs a 5yd running start to wherever they wanted, and our safeties struggled to understand what anyone else was doing from a responsibilities perspective. I don't think our defense is as terrible as it is this year with a competent scheme and good DC.
That said, we need an infusion of speed and talent into our defense, but I honestly believe Henry gave our guys very little opportunity to be successful this year
The more immense your need, the more likely a recruit is a difference makerLove Bret but there’s no way there ten difference makers. That’s like Ohio State recruiting
Isn’t his brother also at NebraskaDylan Raiola apparently set to enter the portal.
