This is one that time willl tell, possibly it all works out for him or possibly he transfer somewhere else in the future.
Really odd situation. His mom interviewed saying once JC makes a commitment, that’s it. Shut it down, and sounded like shut it down for entire college.
Did he ever visit LSU?
Listen to your parents, kids.

Justin Scott NG Miami
Marquis Lightfoot EDGE Miami
Avery Johnson QB Kansas State
Illinois will be the third best QB job in the B10 this cycle (Penn State, Indiana).

OSU retains Sayin, scUM retains Underwood, WASH retains Williams, USC retains Maiava, Oregon (likely) will retain Moore.

Johnson would be a fine fit.

Have we considered that JC just loves Southern girls and food.

I just checked and he's not committed to Kansas State "publicly" for next year. I'd imagine there will be a lot of comp, but if he does enter I'd pursue no doubt.

Also in the mindframe that I think Carson Boyd is going to be really good sooner than later. Wouldn't mind him taking the reigns over this upcoming year either assuming he's ready. Had to watch his tape again and came away as impressed as I was when he signed. Arm talent, touch on passes/accurate and plus athleticism.

If he does take the job, he's going to leave with a ton of school records.

The Avery Johnson and Jake Davis collab on the Head and Shoulders NIL deal would have been pretty legit … 😎😂

I can say that Klein was the entire reason Johnson committed to K State coming out of HS … Really good relationship there … Collin told me that he’s already talked to Avery multiple times and Avery’s coming back …

Illinois is lucky this year as you mentioned, many BIG schools locked in at QB. Even Indiana has the younger Mendoza and Penn State is undergoing a HC change who can potentially bring his QB from ISU.

Think we will bring in a proven QB from weaker Div 1 conference. Don't think we will pay Duke QB money to do it though.

Get the talented QB blocked by Sayin. 😎

Colton Joseph/Old Dominion looks like a QB made for Coach Lunny's offense. A little bigger than Luke, had a big run against Indiana. A knock on him is he can be a gunslinger, which may not be bad if you cut the interceptions. Looks to be able to make all the throws.

Seems like a good Illinifamily pick who is proven and solid. Fits the mold of a Tommy Devito/Luke Altmyer recruit.

👀 Over 1,000 QB rush yards on the season?? To go along with 2,624 passing.

I’m not stoked about Easton Baker transferring out. I think he has a lot of potential if he adds size.

Yeah was a missile at LB on tape. Such is life in CFB these days. Have to just keep upgrading. The University of Illinois needs Butkus award winner types and they're getting closer to that prototype. Just have to keep adding them.

The jury is still out on Andrew Dennis, as he redshirted at MSU and has only appeared in a couple games. Recall, he enrolled early and went through spring practice with the Illini. MSU's new coach, NIL money, and being home sick may have had as much to do with his transfer as anything--plus, Illini spring practice showed him that there was already a lot of OL talent ahead of him on the depth chart. It's hard to put his transfer on the coaches when you're not inside the locker room or the kid's living room. And never forget what NIL has done to the entire culture of CF.

a kid can be all-world in high school and buried at the next level (as Baker most definitely was). his size deficit definitely didn't help. and while his speed was ok for an LB, it wasn't for a safety. sometimes it doesn't work out. all the best to him and hope he finds a situation where he'll get a lot of snaps

Put differently, if we announced a transfer in of a soph 1,362nd ranked player that couldn't make the field for another B10 team...would anyone be excited?

I'm hoping they're hunting for bigger game. No pun intended.

Give me Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele and we can make everything else work.

We did pretty well rebuilding the OL already. Besides the obvious needs of QB and DL, I’d like to see more speed and athleticism at the LB position. We got some good ones coming in but need plug and play guys. Would also like to see us get bigger and more physical corners. Jakwon Morris is a great start
