With a solid foundation at QB, hopefully that will open the doors for some solid WR transfers and give us a window of opportunity to nail this portal season.

There’s plenty of room for improvement but I can see a high ceiling. The staff is proving they are pretty good at roster construction and continue to follow the blueprint for success.

House that?🤓

I'm sure all the illini junkies know this but I thought I'd post the article. Loosing Luke is brutal. However our 2026-27 success might have more to to with how we stich our defense back together. This article was good to point some of this out. How many freshmen start next year?

We are adding speed and athleticism to the defense.

Coenen makes a couple plays, and he and his agent get an inflated opinion of his dollar value. He needs to further develop, and had a great opportunity to do that here, but is reaching for dollars. Well … Bye.
Werner's 247 article notes that Coenen left due to Janki's coming on board. There could have been a money/value difference as well. Werner's article also did a good job summarizing the plan on the D line:

How he fits: Janki should help fill the shoes of outgoing starting defensive lineman James Thompson Jr. and points to why rotation player Eli Coenen entered the transfer portal. Janki and junior Pat Farrell should complement returning starter Tomiwa Durojaiye, who proved himself as a disruptive presence last season, with redshirt sophomore Demetrius Johnpotentially moving into a rotational role as well. The Illini are likely to add a nose tackle as well after Curt Neal entered the transfer portal.

Why don’t these guys let things play out instead of jumping in the portal. It has to be nerve racking jumping from school to school each year. Pick a place and stay . My goodness

For anyone that feels a little nervous heading into this Transfer Portal cycle, I highly recommend listening to this interview with Pat Embleton, the GM:

This isn’t a rinky-dink operation. This is a full team of scouts who have hand scouted thousands of players to pick the ones they feel fit their system best.

for those that are connected , is there a apt/townhouse complex near south campus where a lot of the upper class men are encouraged to consider for housing ?

I mean , these guys need to be on campus on 1/12 , correct ? or is it 1/19?
