How much money for Houser? $1Mil tops?

Money (at any position) makes billed “competition” in Spring a lot less open feeling. Hampton and Boyd will see the writing on the wall with their next to $0 earnings, while coaches will feel the pressure to justify their big expenditure by starting him, or else eating crow.

Nature of the beast I suppose.
I wouldn’t think $1M gets him to answer the phone. Houser isn’t being brought in for a competition. He’s being brought in to start.

Boyd’s plan is to prepare himself to start next year.

I hated the scheme. I never understood playing that far off a receiver. I was a corner in HS and I played up on the line and knocked them off their route.

both Hampton & Boyd will get enough NIL $ to live pretty well on campus .

Says a lot about about what they saw or didn’t see in Hampton this year during practices.

With so much roster to build, and him being a stop-gap QB, how much over $1mil do you feel is unwise?

Hampton was just viewed as an experienced backup in case of an injury. I don’t think he was ever viewed as a B10 starter.

I am not knowledgeable enough about Houser to evaluate his worth. But I’m guessing a quality B10 starting QB where you expect a winning B10 record is greater than $2M.

none of it? (having a good QB is kind of important). getting a guy at (or near) the top of our board is paramount. without knowing what the current state of the market is, hard to guess. but I'd say over one million (so, 2 million for all the maths majors)
