Curious about what is keeping BB from reeling in offensive line classes like Martin O'Donnell's class of OL recruits under Ron Turner. Thought that would be a regular thing.
If the question is whether Brett Bielema can develop and discipline (“rein in”) offensive linemen at the level of Martin O’Donnell — the answer is a confident yes.

The system, philosophy, and developmental track record are all aligned, and Illinois is already trending in that direction.

This past recruiting year was that type of OL. Actually think this was potentially a generational OL class. They're highly regarded but still underrated. Think they have a few serious pro prospects in this class. Added to this OL on the roster, think they're in line for a serious run of top rushing seasons and pros.

Great points - 4 of the 5 O-lineman from the 2008 Rose Bowl team went on to play in the NFL.

(1) Martin O'Donnell - Downers Grove South was probably the best recruit Illinois had since David Williams - the 1983 recruiting class was ranked 6th in the country; O'Donnell was recruited by every major program in America.
(2) Xavier Fulton - Homewood Flossmore was recruited by Ron Zook as a D - Lineman. He moved to the O-Line in 2007 after a redshirt year
(3) Ryan McDonald was also recruited by Ron Turner but was actually from Michigan.
(4) Eric Block was high school All - America from Louisiana and was recruited by Ron Zook
(5) Jon Asamoah - Rich East and was recruited by Ron Zook

We haven't had an O-Line of that ability since 2008.

BB did very well recruiting Offensive linemen at Wisconsin.

Now there are alot of real experts on this board. But as I read it, there are not as many highly ranked O - lineman in the state of Illinois in the 2024 - 2026 period as there has been in the past.

Would like to hear what some of the people who follow this closely have to say.

There are Reddit rumors that Kamden Lopati will de-commit, and commit to ND soon. Has anyone here heard anything?

The funny thing is, I'd love to see him in the O&B, and years ago, this would have been devastating, but we're in such a different world that it doesn't seem like it would really set us back. That said, I hope it's not true.
