'27 WR 6' 2" 190, VG speed: Track 10.25 100M | Midwest BOOM athlete | 23.1 MPH
Geneva, IL
Heard he really enjoyed his visit. Was playing w/a pulled hammy last year which is why his speed on game film doesn't match his blazing track times this spring. Has added 20+ pounds of muscle in the off season and offers are starting to flow in.

Why no recruits committing to the Illini? Are we in a dead period?
Dead period doesn’t affect that, and coaches are headed out this upcoming week. I’m guessing $ offers have been very low and kids aren’t interested. Think BB is allocating major money to returners for 2027 and treating the incoming freshman as basically scholarship only guys outside of a handful of signees.

We are doing the opposite of the PJ Fleck approach and acting like we don’t want them to commit so they want to commit to us even more and never flip.

if a frosh is looking for big $ to sit, (which 90% do) they'll be in portal in 10 months. retention from a developmental kid
and a few big $ free agents is critical. QB's, OT,DT, WR's

It’s a lot easier to turn a raw prospect into a te. Teaching him pad level and hand technique would almost be impossible if he has no playing experience. You see the nfl take big athletes and turn them into te’s

Aaron Adeoye from Marion is like this kid. Aaron played basketball for four years at four different colleges before the Baltimore Ravens gave him a shot as a defensive end and he was on their practice squad for a couple or so years and then went over to the Jets and Green Bay.

It could work depending on his effort.
