Illinois Football Recruiting Thread

#228
I just assumed he was headed to a G5 school. This kid is a good player, I'm shocked he was only headed to a D2 school. This is a nice add. He may never play a down, but never know what he can turn into once he is only focusing on football in college. Maybe end up at another position as well.
I’m never against taking a chance or two in a football class. Big, athletic QBs often end up at a different position and succeed because of how they understand the game. Add the local connection and the fact this kid is a winner, and it adds up to a low risk/high reward type of recruit.

while we have a legit chance , aren’t we going against the grain with this lad due to his folks both being Iowa people ?
Just keep this relationship solid. Iowa doesn't seem to lose many transfers, but you never know what 3 years down the road look like.

Bowen's dad (Matt) is a Glen Ellyn native. I think his mom is an Illinois grad. while Matt is an Iowa guy, a whole lot of us would have made the same decision had we been in his shoes. I don't doubt that Matt wants Grant to choose Iowa, but I think it's gonna be Grant's call

one thing's for sure, he's going to have a boatload of schools to choose from

Never know what the kid wants. May want to carve his own path.

Will ferentz be at Iowa all potential 5 years this kid is in college? Doubtful.

Will bielema be at ILL all 5 years, most likely yes.

Bret is running ILL similar to Iowa in many ways, I’m sure dad is saying good things.

Probably pretty financially set on the home front so not worried about the highest offer, one would think.
