I confused that era helmet with the ones from early 1970’s that were influenced by Dartmouth’s helmet

Blue shirt with orange pants or orange shirt with blue pants is the way. Occasionally white shirt, orange pants is acceptable. Monochrome jerseys just never looks good.
Seems like all top teams have that one color uni to go to, I always thought it looked good and had an edge to it, all orange or all white are the best combos we have imo

Maybe if we had a white helmet and fully embraced that look … but O/W/W is not it.

Obviously I want to see them on the field, but these are very original and well done, not to mention nicely fit for purpose of a one-game rededication ceremony. It's someone taking the half-baked Grey Ghost alternates that we had before and having the stones to pull that thread absolutely all the way through, and that's commendable.

Most likely. Interesting uniform idea for the rededication game but I'd prefer that we go with the circle ILLINI on orange helmets going forward

They did an amazing job with these. Set a new standard for oft-attempted throwbacks to the leather helmet era, including having a worthy reason to do it. The whole event was first class. We have great leadership.
And they did a great job with the weather too. I didn't even know that was possible until like two weeks ago.

I'd be okay with them being our Homecoming uniforms. They certainly pay better homage to the Galloping Ghost than the gray uniforms did

No question, the entire appeal of the endeavor is that it's one time only.
Until Michigan comes to town in 2124, that is.
I don't know about the uniforms, but I've heard they're making the helmets available for sale after the season for $1,500 a piece (1k for the other 3 I believe).

Are jerseys available anywhere?
Maybe the powers that be could channel some of the effort and creativity that went into the rededication set into something special for homecoming next season. The "kickoff another 100 years of MS" set that is unique and gets worn for a five-year stretch so that after 2029 everyone is looking forward to the next set of homecoming specialz. We invented that shizz didn't we?
