Looks like it’s the Block I orange helmet
We beat No. 1 Ohio State with that combo.I don’t have the strong uniform opinions of others on here, but the O-W-W seems to be a historical choice.
Well then, Let's Do It !!!! O/W/W anytime we play a #1, until we lose....We beat No. 1 Ohio State with that combo.
I respectfully disagree with you here. If you wear them every year at homecoming, it becomes a homecoming tradition celebrating the long history of Illinois football history at Memorial stadium, which was launched--amazingly--with one of the greatest performances in the history of sports. Every televised homecoming game it would be the talking point of the pregame, reminding the world of the that glorious history.pretty sure those unis were one offs and they should be . they meant something yesterday . they won’t mean anything special in a month or a year if you repeat it
This is an excellent idea. I’ve been thinking of “once only” but this keeps the uniforms special and historic.I respectfully disagree with you here. Surprised we didn't go with the slant Illinois helmet like 2007
We lost in them at OSU. Lost their jujuSurprised we didn't go with the slant Illinois helmet like 2007
What uniform combo have we NOT lost in, last week’s beauties notwithstanding. We lost in them at OSU. Lost their juju
I meant PSU. That's every I get for watching OSU today and trying to post. What uniform combo have we NOT lost in, last week’s beauties notwithstanding.
I hope so.....Just trying to find a positive here … maybe we retire the ugly-a$$ white pants on the road look after this embarrassment?
The answer is RWB slant ILLINOIS!I think the Flag Block I would have made more sense than the slant Illinois, but I LOVE the names and the stars on this helmet.
agreed-need to retire the slant ILLINOIS helmet. Block I is so much more iconic.I think the Flag Block I would have made more sense than the slant Illinois, but I LOVE the names and the stars on this helmet.
There are 200 columns total, 189 of which are inscribed with the name of a fallen soldier.love the video and sentiment.
i hate to seem nit-picky (i'm not trying to be), but isn't some of the info given in the video incorrect? the columns are meant to represent 189 (not 200) UIUC students/alums that died (not just fought) in WWI, no? Just seems like something you'd want to make sure you got correct in a video like this.

I know it's the era I grew up in/went to Illinois but I will always have a soft spot in my heart for ILLINOIS helmet. Hard not to think of Kurt Kittner, Juice, Pierre Thomas, Vontae, Rejus, Rashard, etcetera. Now that New York has moved away from it, it is unique to us. Plus most of the teams in the conference (Wisconsin, Rutgers, Indinia, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue, Oregon, Washington, Nebraska, Maryland) do the block letter, lets be different.
