Whether you like our all Orange look or not, you have to admit they look a whole lot better than what OKST is wearing tonight. Yuck.

Ok so which helmet to wear at Washington? I’ll say Block I. Haven’t lost in them yet this year.

As much as I prefer the wordmark helmets and hate the block I helmet, I feel like the only right choice for this Washington game is to wear the block I. First time playing Washington since 2014, coming off a bye week, and need a reset after a home loss. Block I with orange pants just makes the most sense for this "business trip" and an absolute must-win road game. Anyone else agree?

All whites. Orange lids. Block I or arched Illini. We look bigger and tougher in white

I can't say I agree, and this is actually the attitude that I don't like that I feel is SO persistent in the DIA. :ROFLMAO: ;) I don't like the idea that we should utilize our worst uniform combos for "regular games" ... we should ALWAYS wear our best stuff. To me, there is no argument to ever wear the Block I helmet or the 1LL1NO1S uniforms for basketball ... because they should have both been retired already. If we want a "big game" helmet, then make Script or Slant ILLINOIS the full-time "default" and save the other and Arched ILLINI for "big games"! We currently have several helmet designs that are objectively cooler than the Block I ... if we want to start designating "business trip" helmets, can't we eliminate the weakest link from consideration??

I also can't support white pants on the road ... I've said it before and it's absolutely just personal taste, but I hate the ALMOST all-white look. If you are going for the Storm Trooper look, wear a white helmet; it just looks kind of half-!!! with a non-white helmet and then all white below that. Going back to my predictions, this is what I had at the start of the season for the Washington game, and this was even my commentary! :ROFLMAO:

"Yada yada 'business trip,' so we wear our "normal" uniforms."

... and I'm expecting that is indeed what we see. However, if you put me in charge for this game in this situation given everything that's happened in the season so far, I am going with this:

OWO Arch.jpeg

I am incredibly annoyed that #BPOTR remains off of Bret's radar (or he inexplicably doesn't like it!), but that would have been a better look for Indiana and/or saving it for our trip to Madison. Given the purple, I think we should boldly proclaim our orange for contrast. As previously stated, I would never willingly put us in our worst helmet, the Block I ... so I am going with the Arched ILLINI, as I think it would look good with the O/W/O combo.

Speaking of my predictions, I am NOT happy to be doing pretty well! :ROFLMAO:

vs. Western Illinois: O/B/O & Block I Helmet
at Duke: O/W/O & Slant ILLINOIS Helmet
vs. Western Michigan: O/B/O & Block I Helmet
at Indiana: O/W/O & Slant ILLINOIS Helmet ... (got Script helmet instead)
vs. USC: O/B/O & Slant ILLINOIS Helmet
at Purdue: O/W/W & Block I Helmet ... (got orange pants instead)
vs. Ohio State: O/O/O & Slant ILLINOIS Helmet

... and I have these still to go:

at Washington: O/W/O & Block I Helmet
vs. Rutgers: O/B/B & Arched ILLINI Helmet
vs. Maryland: O/O/O & Slant ILLINOIS Veterans Day Helmet
at Wisconsin: O/W/B & Slant ILLINOIS Helmet
vs. Northwestern: O/B/O & Block I Helmet

The Wisconsin guess was obviously one of the heart more than the head, haha ... but I am keeping faith alive. The only one of these predictions I would definitely change if I could now is Rutgers. Preseason, Luke put up an Instagram story of both the Slant ILLINOIS and Arched ILLINI helmet, and I thought it meant we'd see both this year ... now I am more pessimistic. We had also worn navy pants at home at least once in every season with the new uniforms, but I'm now less sure we will see anything but orange pants at all this year.

^I believe @CaptainCrutch already provided us with a template of what all-white would look like for us! Now, I am a fan of only wearing on orange helmet from the perspective of cultivating our brand ... but that is why I am ALSO against wearing white pants on the road! Because the first photo just looks a lot better than the second (provided that orange or navy pants looks better than both!).

P.S. Has anyone ever seen these types of illustrations for our basketball uniform templates??

If we aren't going to do BPOTR....I am here for the W/W/W with the script helmet!! Much like the O/O/O.....these stripes are perfect.

^ I can totally get the argument for always sticking with the orange helmet, and I have even voiced my support for that. However, I can not fathom how anyone wouldn't say this is miles better than an "almost all-white" look like we did a lot in 2023 and at Oregon last year. If you don't want to jump on the all-white train, fine! If you do, go all the way and don't half a$$ it!!

Doubt it happens Bret takes the Illini orange helmet seriously as part of our brand, specifically the slant one which we now constantly wear and designed our current base helmet after.
