Illinois Football Uniforms

Really wish we made the arched Illini our default helmet. Use the Giants underlined "Illinois" a few times a year with certain orange combos that look good, and throw in the script for bowls if you want.
Just anything but the block I
I’d just retire the Block I. It does not look good on a helmet at all.

Arched Illini as the default, switch out between the blue and white (I’m guessing the blue will look better with white and white will look better with blue, but I’m willing to be convinced otherwise).

Slant Illinois for all-orange.

Because it’s the logo of the University.
Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, Penn State, Florida, etc. all have helmets that do not feature their standard logos, so I think we’d be okay!

Just hopping in here to point everyone to the abomination the Lions are currently sporting. Every single element of it is somehow worse than the last.

Did anyone else catch Bret say Blue Illini Helmets? Does that mean we are getting the blue version of these next week?

Blue Arched Illini with orange letter, I can dig it

he said “electric blue”
I’m thinking it’s a new previously not seen blue helmet

is there such a thing as candy apple blue ?

it would just need to be a darker shade

Need to decide on a helmet (not Block I) to create a better brand. Arched Illini my first choice, script and then slant Illinois, but they need to settle on a consistent helmet look, IMO. Let Oregon keep changing up their “outfits”.

Amen. If it needs to be Block I, fine … HORRIBLE, deranged choice, but at least it’s a choice. Right now, we’re in this directionless limbo where we utilize our worst option as often as possible while still not often enough that it’s a clear-cut standard.

I can't imagine how badly Illinois would be eviscerated on social media if they play poorly and literally have "ill" written on their helmets.
Um, why? Illinois has struggled with identity since Chief/war chant was retired. ILL-INI is the only tradition and unique identity Illinois has left.

Furthermore, learn your street slang:

The slang term "ill" has multiple distinct meanings depending on regional culture, hip-hop history, and context:

1. Cool, Awesome, or Talented (Hip-Hop & Urban Slang)
    • Meaning: Used as a high compliment to mean cool, dope, impressive, or exceptionally skilled.
    • Example: "That beat is ill" or "He is an ill rapper."
    • Origin: Popularized heavily through 1980s and 1990s hip-hop culture, where negative or gritty terms were inverted to mean something extraordinary. The superlative form is "illest" (e.g., "the illest of all time").

2. Angry, Bad-Tempered, or Upset (Southern US & Appalachian Dialect)
    • Meaning: Describes someone who is in a foul mood, cross, irritable, or hostile.
    • Example: "Don't talk to him right now; he's real ill" or "As ill as a hornet".
    • Origin: A regional American usage (particularly common in parts of the Southern US and Appalachian mountains) that preserves older dialectal definitions of being "ill-natured" or cross.

3. To Hostilely Target or "Illing" (Street Slang)
    • Meaning: Acting mean, provoking someone, or giving someone a hard time.
    • Example: "Why are you illing on me?"
