This really could be the strongest field of the year. This is the type of event where any one of the teams could get hot on any giving day and take a commanding lead. That being said, yesterday was huge because Stanford came out blazing and we stood toe to toe. Big day today. under par at all probably keeps us in the mix

tied for the lead entering the back, playing 9 at +3 hurt a bit but momentum with the good guys. I think we may leap to at least top 5 in the nation if they win this, perhaps very near the top. Even 2nd or 3rd would boost us up the rankings.

What in the world has happened to Jerry Ji? Two years ago it looked like he and ADC were going to be stalwarts. ADC is there, but Ji has pretty much cratered.

To put that in perspective, Ji was our top competitor at this even last year. He shot 211 (73+70+68). This year he shot 226 (72+75+79). I know that he sustained some type of injury early in the season last year.

I would expect Besard to finish as the second or third best player on the team. He’s really good. The key will be finding consistency out of of the four and five men. Hunt is one of those guys….they need to find one more. Buchanan has shown flashes. Just needs to be a bit more consistent.

T-2 is certainly nothing to belittle in a field this stacked. Stanford played tremendous and Florida is quite possibly the best team in the nation, at least the deepest and most experienced. But, got a feel a little like a missed dream start. 10 stroke swing between Stanford and us on the final 4 holes. AdC was three over final 10 holes and got clipped for the individual title by a stroke. +4 on the back for Hunt. We had a chance for sure. Expecting great things from this group.

The Illini men's golf team teed off today in the Folds of Honor event in Grand Haven, Michigan. Same starting 5 as the last event. It's very early but so far we are +2 as a team. Other top teams include Florida State, UCLA, Clemson and NC State.

Not a bad start currently T-3rd and only 5 back, field is not stacked but isn't a cake walk either. Florida st is a strong squad and we don't want to give them a lot of distance. Today is moving day.
