People pretty connected to Tilmon have said that grades are not the concern.

Yeah I would be surprised if grades were an issue seeing that he went to LaLumiere academy for a year. My understanding is that student athletes get a lot of individual attention and leave well prepared...but I could be wrong.

That and lets face it Martin's sister is his assistant principal now. Does anyone really think grades are whats holding this up if he is in the bag for Mizzou?

Grades are not the issue here at all, if he wanted to go to Mizzou, Cuonzo could pull some strings and change a few grades I am sure. He will come out w/ a list here soon. My guess is it will be Mizzou, Illinois, MSU, Texas, and UNC. However, if Mizzou was really the pick it would have been done a while ago. Don't rule out his return to Illinois either.

It's a risk I'd take. Let's not perform too many mental gymnastics here.

In regards to Brian Bowen, hearing that MSU will not be the choice. Do not be surprised if he comes out with a new final 5. Probably will consist of Arizona, Creighton, MSU, Oregon, and Texas. From what I have heard Arizona is leading, but his recruitment is being kept very close to the vest. Oregon had a good shot until McCoy committed to UNLV. Creighton is still in the mix because they can sell on him on being what Doug McDermott did with them, and he can be the man. Ultimately I think he will end up at Arizona or Creighton. Doesn't hurt that Epperson is headed to Creighton as well.

I have this feeling we're dodging a bullet with him going elsewhere. There's a pretty good chance he never makes the NBA - for one reason or another - and the perception will be that it's all Illinois' fault for not "developing him."

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see him back in the fold. But he's a huge risk.

Sorry but I truly do not agree with you on this. He may never be an all star or a starter in the NBA but unless he gets hurt to the point he cant play he will at least get a shot. And even if you are 100% right and he never makes it to the NBA he is a risk most every coach would take.

See Cliff Alexander.

This is what I said - you don't agree????

I do not agree at all I do not see him as any kind of risk, We aren't going to pay his mom so its nothing like CLiff

In honor of this, Nick is doing a Throw Back Thursday to 1997 when he "headed" Taylor Bell's All-Public League Team over Q Richardson, Bobby Simmons, Michael Wright and Julian Williams. Averaged 29 points and 9 assists for Carver, complete with pics and articles - tweeted to Ayo and Cam who must have been giving some guff.

I'm pretty sure all of Mac's kids, Byron, Lance, Mike, Nick and Cindy, were All-Public League guards and Byron made the League for a while. So for those on here wondering (or bemoaning) why MP and the Fire always get great guards, that's one reason why.

Anyone else notice the Tilmon tidbit?

Jeremiah Tilmon, C, East St. Louis, 6-11/235, Sr.
The athletic Illini commit showed the ability to change games, blocking 4.0 shots per contest to go with 15.3 points and 11.0 rebounds.

Looks like someone forgot to proofread, this was published yesterday.

Bruninga averaged 33 a game?

In the IHSA there are a lot of TEAMS who barely manage that.

I have a buddy who plays D1 college golf and about two weeks ago they were at a tournament in St. Louis I believe. He posted a picture of Cuonzo Martin and another man who he didn't recognize sitting at a bar in their hotel and said they were talking about NCAA infractions.

Hard to believe your buddy doesn't know who Calapari is. He was probably giving a data dump on how to get away with recruiting violations.

Fire developing a Peoria Pipeline. Hope the kids are using DaMonte as a role model and head down to Champaign after hs and Fire play. (Some of these kids I may not even be around to appreciate but we are a long lived family, just hope my younger years habits don't impact longevity as much as I was warned. lol)

Isaiah Donnell Weatherspoon -2021- Lord, Lord, Lord!!! this young man was quite impressive here, he could do everything on the floor. Smooth operator who looked like he belonged with the class of 2020

Talking about the center position is old school. When I look at P5 starting line ups they are usually 3 guards and 2 forwards or visa versa. BU just wants athletes that can run the floor.

Jackie Carmichael got drafted out of ISU. Although he is 6'9 and averaged 17 and 9 as a senior in a probably much more competitive Valley (believe Creighton was still in the league then and if memory serves they may have been a 3-4 bid league for a couple of years).

Not saying McIntosh's NBA chances are good, but if he stayed at ISU it wouldn't be crazy for him to jump from 12/6 to 17/9 stat-line, and he's only 2 inches smaller than Carmichael was. Not great (no one's chances are great) but not impossible either.

Carmichael did not get drafted.
