Purdue is loaded in the front court with 2 signed top 100 big men this year, sophomore Haarms, and transfer Evan Boudreaux. The fans are already discussing who will redshirt if Okoro reclassifies and commits... does not seem ideal.

I've seen this a couple of times but I've only seen one of their 2018 recruits being in the top 100, and that was only on one site. Rivals, Scout, 247 have them both in the 120-140 range so I wouldn't say they're loaded.

Just had a nice chat with Adam Miller. Things are good with his recruitment. He’s sitting out the whole session in Indy for “rest”. Told me he will play Atlanta. Said he likes the staff a lot. :shield:

Seems right... I was taking Boiler comments which are a little inflated... Dowuona is 87 ESPN and Williams 125 Rivals.. both lower composite... but Haarms is 7'03 and Boudreaux didnt go there to sit on the bench... seems a far cry from the gaping hole in the middle at Illinois.

In their defense, we'd probably say the same thing on this board. They have more proven players in the frontcourt, but I feel that Haarms is going to have a hard time avoiding foul trouble and I'm really curious on how Boudreaux is going to transition to this level. Keep in mind that he was on a horrible team. I could see Purdue still being an attractive landing spot for him.

I'm sure the tigger board is on full defcon5 meltdown...

defcon5? the lowest state if readiness. as in they've never heard of Ramey or are unsure what a basketball is?

"Permit the institution to provide up to 24 official visits in a rolling two‐year period" means a max 24 visits in any consecutive 24 month period. The 24 month period moves (rolls) as the calendar turns. I was curious and did some quick research to see where we stand with the official visit count. Based on what I could find (the dates may be off a day or two here/there), the list below looks like our last 24 official visits (note: Mark Smith never took an OV).

If it's accurate, we're tapped out on OVs until August 19, when we can have 1 OV until September 9. Then we can have 4 more OV and so on. Net result, we can have 7 OVs (through 5/31/19) for 2019 recruiting.

1. Trent Frazier (8/19/16)
2. Damonte Williams (9/9/16)
3. Jeremiah Tillmon (9/9/16)
4. Javon Pickett (9/9/16)
5. Kris Wilkes (9/9/16)
6. Abu Kigbab (9/16/16)
7. Mayan Kiir (10/7/16)
8. Greg Eboigbodin (5/31/17)
9. Matic Vessel (6/11/17)
10. Colin Castleson (9/1/17)
11.Landers Nolley (9/1/17)
12. George Conditt (9/15/17)
13. Amadou Sou (9/29/17)
14. Lukas Kisunas (10/7/17)
15. Elias Valtonen (10/10/17)
16. Ayo Dosunmu (10/10/17)
17. Talen Horton-Tucker (10/20/17)
18. Flo Thamba (12/14/17)
19. Samba Kane (3/9/18)
20. Tevian Jones (3/9/18)
21. Giorgi Bezhanishvili (3/25/18)
22. Alan Griffin (4/7/18)
23. Andres Feliz (4/8/18)
24. Bryce Golden (4/19/18)

Wow, this took some effort. Now someone needs to create a spreadsheet and thread like the one for the scholarship grid.

Sou did not make his visit. So if the numbers are accurate, we have at least one OV remaining

Excellent work. My questions are if this was really as regulated as much as some here are starting to fret about then 1. How has this never been a bigger issue (here or elsewhere) before and 2. Why would players who have already committed always still take one? I realize it's not over until they sign and you don't want to lose someone on something so petty but it wouldn't seem like like taking an unofficial would make more sense if it helps the greater good of the team? Especially for local players who don't have flying expenses?

Sow never took a visit, but Francesco Badocchi did. Also, I thought that the two year period began April 1, 2017, but I can’t find the link.

It looks like Calloo is a candidate to receive the Marcus LoVett Award of Academic Excellence. He transferred back to Huntington Prep for the 2nd time with 4 weeks left in his "senior" year. Oak Hill Academy "dismissed" him after they claimed he "duped" them during his admission process. The 2nd Huntington stop will be his 5th HS. Maybe academics have held him back in the recruiting process.:)

Actually I think Lovett would have been better off going to a single prep school...and Oak Hill would have been fine. Not sure if these prep school scholarships start as early as HS freshmen or not. Seems like you should start there and stick with it.

I've found the problem

Not a rebuttal just thought it was interesting juxtaposition. Then he did this:

19. Samba Kane (3/9/18)
20. Tevian Jones (3/9/18)
21. Giorgi Bezhanishvili (3/25/18)
22. Alan Griffin (4/7/18)

19. Samba Kane (3/9/18)-Thamba, Conditt
20. Tevian Jones (3/9/18)-Nolley, THT
21. Giorgi Bezhanishvili (3/25/18)-Castleton, Kusnas, Sow
22. Alan Griffin (4/7/18)-Volten
23. Andres Feliz (4/8/18)
-Ramey, but no OV

How do these misses compare to the players we landed? Think BY recovered well. Biggest downgrade IMHO is at the PF position. But landing Okoro or Golden would change this. Player wished we got was Nolley. Not sure we get Tevian, but Nolley, Dosunmu, and Tevian would so dominant. Think Nolley is future NBA, with college development.

Not feeling confident about Okoro. There just doesn’t seem to be any buzz for Illinois or smoke coming from Illinois camps like other recruitments.

Purdue is an established winner and churns our big men constantly it seems. If playing time was my biggest factor, maybe Illinois would get the nod. But even then, isn’t Okoro like 35 years old? (Sarcasm but he is 20 right?) He probably isn’t going to shy away from competition since he’s basically the same age if not older then many of his potential teammates.

Have to admit....I've felt this way for quite a while. If he's close to making a decision, as has been discussed here, can't help but think it's not going to be Illinois. We've got everything he needs to be successful. Great bigs coach. Great guards to get him the ball, a great head coach and tons of playing time immediately available. But haven't really heard much of anything positive towards the Illini. Can only hope this is a surprise commit. Because we really need this kid. Him or Liddel....

Losing Okoro to Purdue would be a devastating blow. We are in desperate need of quality big men and Purdue is loaded with them.

Also, losing another elite talent from our own backyard to a conference rival would be tough to stomach.

I don't see us getting him or Liddell, but I would bet that we get a good big in 2019 that isn't a big name on these threads at the moment. We narrow it down too much by thinking we need a certain player from the state. We'll have the most success if we continue to recruit nationally, and eventually we'll get in-state guys to stay on a regular basis if we win.
