3. HERCY MILLER MAKING A NAME FOR HIMSELF

Being the son of a famous father has it’s perks, but it isn’t always easy. This winter, class of 2021 combo guard Hercy Miller, the son of rap mogul Master P, of Minneapolis (Minn.) Minnehaha Academy, has been busy establishing his own identity as a high major prospect on a loaded high school team.

Playing alongside 2020 five-star point guard Jalen Suggs, 2021 five-star big man Chet Holmgren and 2022 four-star forward Prince Aligbe, Miller has carved out a niche as an athletic combo guard who can score at all three levels.

“(Miller) is one of the best on-ball defenders in the country played his role with Jalen Suggs and Chet Holmgren and fit in well,” Team Sizzle program director Brian Sandifer told Rivals.com. “Brought a defensive toughness to our program and his ability to score the basketball is underrated. (He) runs the team well and is an above average athlete with the ability to score it from all three levels. Enjoys physical play and contact will be leading the charge with Chet and Prince Aligbe as the point guard this year. Schools love his ability to guard and distribute at the right time off the bounce.”

Miller has landed scholarship offers from Missouri, Morgan State, UCLA and Western Kentucky, while many others including Georgetown, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Minnesota and Purdue are keeping close tabs.

Howard is a solid guy with lots of connections. He also come across as a good person. I don’t think he’s going anywhere soon.

Howard's seat went from ice cold to warm in less than 24 hours. Michigan boosters are livid.

When you promise important people that you're 100% getting both Todd and Christopher signed then you wind up with neither... I sure wouldn't want to have to answer for that.

No kidding. And how about this kicker from his decommitment:

"This was a no-brainer for me."

We're no stranger to how much finesse it takes to get the roster together, or the inevitable nut punches that come with it, but you'd think this would raise some eyebrows in Ann Arbor after Howard ran off that winning streak and phenomenal recruiting class in the early days....

Hmm... I'd argue that, its likely a no-brainer for anyone to go get paid above the board for doing something rather than doing it for free or for under the table payments. I don't think it necessarily says anything about Michigan or any other school necessarily.

Honestly, unless the NCAA makes changes related to athlete compensation, I'd imagine you'll be seeing this more often. The NBA is ending the one and done rule and international leagues are becoming more viable both monetarily and in terms of exposure. I bet within 5 years or so we will see most of the 5 star type players going and getting paid somewhere immediately.

I wonder what will happen for next years draft. If NCAA b-ball season cancelled, I assume 2020 recruits would be eligible. 1 year after high school graduation?

Wow, there would be No Limit to what we could do if we landed this kid.

Agree, engaging personality, seems to be adept an maintaining an even keel. Given the nature of the times, he may have to work a little harder than he may have anticipated. Lovie has had to bust !!! and he had a solid track record. The level of uncertainty is recruiting has dramatically increased.

Not to nitpick....but insiders as far as crystal ballers didn’t know.

For sure. The "insiders" didn't know. A bunch of those guys just flat out guess.

If you don't see Evan Daniels or Brian Snow throw a prediction in there then you know it's been a fishy recruitment.

Many coaches and boosters were well aware of what was going on with his recruitment the whole time.

There is a reason ASU gave his brother a scholly. Especially when the kid is nowhere near a high major player.

I mean, we gave Alan Griffin a scholarship and didn't get his brother. It's not like this is a guaranteed path to success.

Most people in the know knew he was going to ASU despite many others saying he wasn't.
Not sure where you got that from. He 91% crystal balls going to Michigan. It’s easy to say people “in the know” knew after the fact but there’s really zero evidence of that. Michigan thought it was basically a done deal, and even the ASU people seemed like they were in the dark until the very end.

Nothing that's not good about this. He will sign, probably just wants his moment. Will be looking foward to seeing him play next year.
I-L-L

He probably wants his moment.....ok....I get that.....but why not announce when that moment is going to be???.....not sure this is in the bag as many would suggest

Lmao, this year absolutely nothing that happens on this earth will surprise me. It's just jacked up.

I fully expect aliens to show up on my back porch while I'm grilling burgers and ask for no cheese on theirs....and I will shrug my shoulders and comply.
