Even if we were interested, Moore probably wouldn't want to come here anyway. We already have 2 PG's committed. If we wanted a 3rd, get someone with versatility who could slide over to the 2. Someone like Nojel Eastern. We don't need another undersized PG like TJL.

I want him.. He is power forward and that is something we need. He dunks everything, which is the whole reason why I want him. Would help improve our FG%. Might grow into enforcer and goal defender as well.:shield::shield::chief:

Theo John does look like a prototypical MSU forward. All shoulders and brawn as a freshman, and an All-Big Ten player as a Junior. And generally pushing our forwards around for those three years, too.

Wow I don't think we need him and as a poster said he didn't choose us the first time around what makes you think we are his choice second time around.

I'm pretty sure if Lucas was from Illinois half this conversation wouldn't exist. Idk why everyone is so much fasinated with Moore. He really doesn't seem like the team player and don't see why we need him when Bigs are our bigger need. With Lucas in 16 and Williams in 17 plus all the other guards what we going 4 guard offense and a forward as our big

If Groce doesn't contact Moore eventually, it better be because he knowns Moore has no interest at all in becoming an Illini. Moore is the kind of player Groce should be pushing the house forward to get. The reason we have been so bad under Groce is because players just like Moore and Watson have gone elsewhere.

And how did Watson's team perform last year? Or LoVett's? Or Whitt's? Every player that we recruit and doesn't eventually play here is not going to another school for the sole purpose of whacking us in the head.

I'm fine with re-opening talks with Moore, but the decision was made to go to TJL over Moore for much the same reason we've been getting pounded for trying to get Evans or Brunson over Watson. Swing for the fences and miss, and there's blowback for the next tier guys we miss. Take a safer approach and get TJL and there's blowback for not trying harder with higher level guys. Sometimes you can't win for losing...

I'm not sold that Moore is much better than TJL. Moore was way more exposed than TJL and Lucas didn't really give many a chance to recruit. Shut that door really quick. If TJL played at Simeon or Morgan Park I bet he would been higher

Agreed. I haven't seen a lot of Moore, but I've seen enough to know I'm not interested. He scores a ton of points, because he's a volume shooter.

My biggest beef is to me he doesn't scream makes other better around you. so now you have Moore, Hill, Lucas, JCL and all these other shooter but who is going to rebound the ball. Moore seemed more of a let's just shoot the ball and idk if the team will mesh around him. Lucas seems like a team player who can score. A guy who isn't going to take us out a game.

Yeah Moore is riding that Irvin hype train. But I was really shocked to see Wisconsin involved. Volume shooting does not fit their offense, unless Gard is trying to change things up.

Don't care either way on moore, but I'm sure staff will do their due diligence.

Theo John on the other hand.... oh my. WANT. The part where he dunked in the face of the kid in the red jersey, then stared him down... the kid gives him a shove and Theo just kinda smirked at him and turned away... I lol'ed, watched it twice. He looked to be a playing against lower level competition, but he appeared to be dominant as you would expect from a high major player in that setting.

We're in a no-win situation. If the staff pursues, the chances are very good they end up with egg on their face.. again. The Irvins will play up the Illinois, Northwestern, Iowa and Depaul card all they can to drum up demand and get their preferred high major destination for this kid.

On the other hand, if we don't pursue, the Irvins can come out and say.. well he liked Illinois until they didn't show any interest so he's going to X Out of State School and keep any and all in-state pressures off of them.

It's complete crap. I suppose the prudent move is to pursue since that's in part what Groce gets paid the big bucks to do. I dunno, I'm just tired of the Irvin train using UI as the greater fool to drum up interest so these "handlers" can get theirs.

I don't think they need to 'drum up interest' or 'demand' for CM at this point.

Keep in mind that Illinois target McKinley Wright plays with Theo. It'll be interested to see where McKinley goes too.

We need some bigs in a bad way.PG position is starting to shape up, and we have a butt load of wings. Give me some athletic bangers.

Recruiting another pg wouldn't affect the recruiting bigs. No need to worry about scholarships numbers.

Ding-ding-ding.

As others have noted, no need to drum up interest in Moore. Just SOP for the Irvins. It won't surprise me if Groce joins the derby, but if it's anything more than kabuki-mode, I'll be surprised.

Whether Nebraska performed well as a team is irrelevant. What is relevant is that Watson would've been a HUGE upgrade from Lewis and Tate last year. We have desperately needed steady point guard play and not going after the Watson's of the world has been a dagger to the program.
