Regarding Theo John, looks like exactly what the Illini need. Already has a solid built, and he will get bigger. If we do get Tilmon, I'm sold that we another big similar to Theo to compliment each other. If we continue the stretch 4, I like for him to be built like Theo. I like what Finke brings in, like him as a 3/4. Kansas, UNC, and Indiana were pretty effective running two athletic bigs. I like that approach.

If all the teams interested in the recruitment of Moore, SMU is the shadiest. They are now the front runner and I'm not joking. I wouldn't even put DePaul in that list, although I could see them working with the Irvins.

Heres to being shadier

I have said this a million times on here but TJL is better than Charlie. As someone mentioned before if we are taking another PG make it more of a combo guy like Eastern.

So if he goes to SMU it's because they're shady. What if he goes to Northwestern?

Moore paired up with that kid from Chicago Curie who guided them to the 4A state title a few weeks back would make for a pretty decent backcourt for DePaul. But I'm thinking he can still do a lot better though. If Groce doesn't go after him then it better be because he's 110% confident in Lucas as our future PG.

The Irvins played Illinois in round one of the CM saga. Groce won't be played twice, so this time it's Northwestern that gets played. Charlie ain't going there.

Makes some sense if he really liked Pastner that much, but not sure how much he loves Pastner vs. getting late in the recruiting cycle and it was his last-best offer. It took him a long time to decide, then the issues popped up that delayed his decision and it seemed some schools got tired or couldn't afford to wait and started to drop off.

Then why doesn't he just stay at Memphis?

Because the show must go on, and now there's a second act. This could drag out for weeks or even months if the Irvins are at the wheel. I'm sure they think there are endless opportunities out there. Should we get back on this crazy train? No, thank you!

I want nothing to do with Charlie Moore and it has nothing to do with his level of talent. I am just fed up with the Chicago recruiting soap opera. I firmly believe we CAN win without that but we have to start landing guys like Goodwin, Tilmon, etc. to do it. We have built a solid relationship with Simeon and if we can build relations with a few other key programs in the Chicago area in addition to the inroads made at LaLu, Milwaukee, and other downstate programs then I believe we will be in good shape.

also tired of the idea that we have to please everyone that we recruit. TJL seems like a great kid, so i would hope that he wouldn't have a problem with us recruiting CM, if we did. and if he does have a problem? tough luck. JG needs to win now, not coddle his players that don't want some competition for playing time. you didn't see AJ wavering on his commitment after we got JCL.

Roy Williams met w Tilmon yesterday apparently. No info on how the meeting went.

Agree with this completely. If a player is good enough there's plenty of minutes for 2 pgs.And between TJL,CM and DW odds are 1 of them won't pan out at pg anyways.

Werner had a good column about Charlie Moore recruitment. Makes you think.
Werner's article is spot-on.

1. We have four 2016-17 players who may or may not be in school and on our roster next season.
2. We are a once-proud program that just finished under .500, and we haven't made the NCAA's for three consecutive years.
3. We have a head coach on the verge of losing his job.
4. Recent NCAA champions Villanova and UConn have won with two point guards.

Why in the heck would we not recruit 4-star PG Moore, after carefully broaching the topic with TJL?

Could be 6 if no Kipper until mid December and Abrams' lateral and vertical lifts don't make it back. Probably won't happen, but even if it is 4 as you speak of, we need usable bodies and Lewis'. Liss' and Austin's of the world won't cut it.

I can definitely see not wanting to get back into the Irvin cesspool, but this is a no brainer imo. He's a top 60 player, mr basketball in our own state, could play along TJL according to people smarter than me. I'm baffled that people don't want to go after him.

Me too, but really, nothing said on this board really surprises me anymore. But how about a team of McIntosh, Gage, Moore and Goodwin etc. Think Chris could get NW that first ever NCAA bid?
Derek Piper ‏@DPiperScout 13m13 minutes ago Althoff wing Jordan Goodwin tells me he had an in-home visit with Chris Collins & "the whole" Northwestern staff on Thursday.

If Moore really liked Pastner, isn't it pretty likely he goes to Georgia Tech?

Irvin uses the opportunity to hype his program a bit more.
Memphis fans were worried about CM's commitment when Damon Stoudamire left to become head coach at Pacific. Doubt he follows Pastner

Seems like we don't need the Irvin's hype train we've created our own , ANNNNNNND again he didn't choose us the first time why would he come now.

Gage? He's heading to DePaul. But that team would have some real talent in the backcourt.

It would be a real nut-punch if Goodwin were to go to Northwestern. Maybe I'm naive, but it's tough for me to imagine him there. As crappy as we've been the last couple seasons, our program still has more potential for success the next 4-5 years.
