Seems like we don't need the Irvin's hype train we've created our own , ANNNNNNND again he didn't choose us the first time why would he come now.

If he's not going to Memphis, he will be attending a school he didn't choose the first time.

Before NCAA ever punishes a school they should ask themselves "would we punish UNC for this?". If Illinois was punished for lack of institutional control, without a significant finding back in 1990. UNC bb and fb should be shut down for the lack of education forwarded to their athletes.

NCAA moves too slow in these cases, anything short of NCAA ban and loss of scholarships is a joke. A suspension of Good Ole Roy similiar to Boeheim would be an insult to the NCAA.

Wow breaking news lol...I shocked that an in home visit went great maybe I missed it but have never seen a blurb about a " bad" in home visit , even if it was I doubt a recruit or family would ever say so...means nothing at that this point especially if UNC is hammered by ncaa.

Sounds reasonable. Let's hope these in-homes for Goodwin and Tilmon by the enemy fall flat

Gage? He's heading to DePaul. But that team would have some real talent in the backcourt.

It would be a real nut-punch if Goodwin were to go to Northwestern. Maybe I'm naive, but it's tough for me to imagine him there. As crappy as we've been the last couple seasons, our program still has more potential for success the next 4-5 years.

Yeah, my brain cramp on Gage.
Still would hate having to play McIntosh, Law, Lindsey if you threw in Goodwin and Moore. Much rather have the latter two in Champaign, but I suspect opposing coaches are really using the Groce won't be there long angle on Goodwin and Tilmon especially.

Mac Irvin Fire head coach Mike Irvin tells me the #Illini have not expressed interest in Charlie Moore to this point.

Our definition of expressing interest appears to be different than the Irvins. I've seen this played out during the Krueger, Weber, and now Groce eras. They blame the coaches for not showing enough love or interest. When in reality they are expressing the most interest. Krueger basically wrote off the CPL because of this, he was lucky to have key players from the Burbs and downstate.

As someone mentioned before if we are taking another PG make it more of a combo guy like Eastern.

Of course you take Eastern but that is because of the player he is not because he is a "combo." Actually, both Williams and Eastern would have been more valuable, even a higher need (if that is possible), and even higher ranked if there were true PGs and there was absolutely not even the slightest doubt they could play PG in college.

Grad transfer big men are highly coveted, just like 5 star recruits. And Tilmon may only play 1 year himself. If you didn't like the answer, don't ask the question.

There is ample evidence that high school recruits and non-high school recruits are just apples and oranges.

Non-high school recruits make utilitarian, playing time and fit-based decisions pretty universally.

Thorne didn't go to Kansas because he had one year to play, he didn't want to just ride a bench, and he is smart and self-aware enough to realize he wasn't going to get on the floor at KU. Carlton Bragg gets another bite at the apple next year. Thorne would not have.

Listened to the Tay & J show and I agree with them if Charlie is interested in us let him reach out to us first why run to him we have our pg.

Didn't Nunn have a bad in home with Buzz and Marquette?

Thorne turned down Kentucky, iirc.

Roy Williams met w Tilmon yesterday apparently. No info on how the meeting went.

" Don't worry about qualifying, young man, and don't worry about all that time in class. We have ways of taking care of that. Let's talk about a degree in African American studies. How does that sound to you?"

That is actually a good point. Some 5th year players are highly coveted but playing time is a much more crucial factor in their decision compared to regular HS recruits.

My thoughts exactly, Moore has heard the pitch why try to convince him again. Like I mentioned before, I think Moore is far from the Yogi's and Ulis' of the world. I would be afraid that we would now have a 5-10 SG. I like the size of TJL and that of DWilliams (just sounds so good) at the point. Also like giving JCL the chance to develop PG skills, I think he is closer to providing minutes there already.

Having seen Tilmon multiple times, I highly doubt that. I really like him and hope we get him, but Tilmon will not be a 1-yr player, he is nowhere near that level IMO.

Only people who can't separate the concepts of "5 star" and "one and done" think Tilmon is likely to be a one-and-done.

Assuming all of Tate, Nunn and Black are back, leaving just one a ride open for 2016, it seems unlikely that Groce would offer it to CM.

First, he HAS to win next year if he wants to keep this job. Secondly, to win next season, he has to have another capable big, one that can contribute right away.

Unfortunately that means he can't speculate on a HS big like Rako who may take several years to develop. A healthy Thorne would be perfect but if not, then he should use it on the best possible 5th year post guy.

In my opinion, the only scenario where CM may make sense is if Tate or Nunn aren't on next year's team.
