Any new Whitney news from the UK?

Was just reading Kentucky message boards, and man, they are so rich it's ridiculous. They are talking about potentially getting #1 & #2 in the country (Wiseman/Carey), although they think it's likely they *only* get one of them. They live in another world. No word on Whitney. Not sure he's really on their fans radar. He'd be royalty here. There, he's just another player on the roster. The guy who just committed was rivals #47, and they weren't sure if he'd even be offered.

Isn't that the same guy who said we weren't in his top 4 schools? Sorry, I'll wait, and bet he visits Illinois again.

If he was set on Kentucky, why wait "a couple weeks".........

Come on.

Imagine the situation were reversed and a recruit suggested that he might not take any other official visits after visiting Illinois. We would all be celebrating the very obvious implication. As to why not commit right away? We'd tell ourselves that he has made up his mind, but wants to take a little bit of extra time to sleep on it and make sure.

It's very obvious that he's going to UK.

If living in denial gets you through the day, then you be you. The writing has been on the wall here since UK got involved.

There was an interview with him a year or two ago that says UK was his dream school.

Anyone have that link?

Either way, if he commits to UK then the bright side is we can move on early in the process and devote more time and resources to other players

Back in 2016, when he was coming off his freshman year of high school, Whitney told NBC Sports that he already had a dream college.

“I want to go to Kentucky,” Whitney said at the time. “I like Coach Calipari. He’s a great coach. You can display your talent at the highest level and I just love the atmosphere there for games.”

In the past few days — and in the immediate aftermath of UK’s scholarship offer to Whitney — recruiting experts haven’t been shy about their predictions"

Doubt he's changed that dream.

Well, if he actually waits a couple weeks, I'd say all bets are off. So I kinda agree with you about sleeping on it. But if it goes more than a week, then I'd put us back in the game. No one needs to sleep on a decision to go to their dream school that long.

If there is any hesitation, it may be because he just doesn't know how he'll stack up with the rest of their class.

My guess is that we'll see a commitment to KY within a week and the "couple weeks" was just recruit speak.

Agree, but how does his dream stack up to Cal's dream?

Agree that it was recruit speak. My UK booster friend (who is 2 for 2 with his info) said Whitney told the staff couple weeks ago that they were the leader and on the visit said he was coming. TWFWIW.

All signs seem to point to Lexington

Not sure you read what I wrote, I'm not denying anything, just saying Zagoria was wrong before, and if we get a visit and this goes a couple weeks it isn't over. Now, if the guy commits today, its over. I'm not saying we are winning this deal, I'm saying (in my opinion) its not over, or he'd have committed. Maybe I'm wrong, if I am, on to the next guy.

My biggest concern is we have ZERO guys committed as of today, and as more and more guys come off the board, It gets worrisome. Anyways, onward and upward its in someone else's hands now.

Thought I saw somewhere that only about a dozen of the top 100 have given a verbal at this point. Let's tap the breaks on the worrisome button for now. Official visits are just getting scheduled.

So because he said 3 years ago that he wanted to go to UK, that is where he will go? These kids are pulled so many different directions by coaches and handlers, that nothing they say can be taken seriously. As of last week, I was hearing that KW was still gonna be Illinois bound. The visit to Lexington could have changed that, but I wouldn’t trust a word Zagoria says either. Just let it play out.

People hear what they want to hear.

If a kid said years ago that a certain school is his dream school, and then that school makes a push for him, then that's a pretty strong factor to consider.

More than that, however, is the fact that virtually everybody has been hinting at UK for Whitney lately, and when he returns from his visit saying that he may not even schedule any additional visits? That's telling.

This is UK we're talking about. Whether it was his dream school or not, when UK makes a push for a kid, other non-blue bloods immediately become the underdog in the race. That's just how it is. Whitney picking between UK and Illinois is like a kid picking between Illinois and Tulane. It's a pretty clear choice.
