Khalil Whitney getting passed up on the rotation at Kentucky and is struggling. Would love to see a Charles Matthews situation only ending in a different destination
This is a possiblity.

Think Curbelo will have a bigger affect than Miller.
2021 French SG, Louis Lesmond.
Just think distribution will be more valuable with the scorers we have than another scorer. Am assuming we still have Kofi. But with Trent, Giorgi, and Kofi, we have a lot of firepower. Throw in Alan and the two transfers and it’s going to come down to defense.Depends from a Chicago perception NO, but from a NY connection possibly. Between him and the way Kofi is going, well it will only look good for us. I love having that region as a recruiting possibility.
Are there any other programs in the state who dominated Illinois High School basketball for a decade or more other than Collinsville, Paris, and Centralia? Some have had runs with a particular class or group, but to do it for a decade requires building a great program, tremendous pride, and genius coaching. No question Virgil Fletcher and Ernie Eveland did just that at Collinsville and Paris, but Centralia did it with a bunch of orphans and several coaches. Of course, Collinsville and Centralia generally played in the same regional every year and had to battle each other while Paris did it with a bunch small town kids and farm boys with which Eveland simply worked magic in a small prairie town less than half the size of the other two. Both Collinsville and Paris produced two state champs in less than a decade. Paris also blew and 8 pt. fourth quarter lead as Dike Eddleman and Centralia burst their bubble in 42 before Paris won in 43 and 47. I vividly remember watching the 63 title game in the first tournament played at the Assembly Hall when a team of Orphans everyone thought was unbeatable got "Smedlied"at the buzzer. Then, in 65, I was there again as Fletcher's Kahok's methodically pressed their way to one of the most efficient team performances in history. I was not born when Paris won their second title in 47, but was in my Mom's womb getting ready to be born a couple of months later. I do remember watching a handful of guys from those days play in a local league when I was in grade school, and they all seemed to play like Bob Cousy or Bill Russel.
But since then, though there have been many great teams that had runs of three of four years, I am not aware of any that have been considered a competitor for a state title...and won a couple or more...every year for a decade.. Lawrenceville, a rival that Paris played every year, had great success during two periods, the second being at Class 2 after the split, But those successes were more predicated on a particular group and did not approach a decade IIRC. The Shidler boys and Mary Simmons were the pillars of their success and they also had an excellent coach.
Fill me in if can.
Is it really a NY connection or is it a Carribbean connection? Antigua seems to be really strong with players with both backgrounds.Depends from a Chicago perception NO, but from a NY connection possibly. Wow, didn't know that. And I thought I knew just about everything about REM. Go figure that I learned that on the Illini Hoops Recruiting thread.
Kudos to whoever alerted me to the 2021 French SG, Louis Lesmond. Looks intriguing.
How many state titles did Wayne McClain and Peoria Manual win in the '90s? Four consecutive wasn't it? I think that would qualify as a decade of dominance! Quincy in the early '80s was awfully good, as well, from Payne and the Douglas brothers to Klingler, etc. What about ESTL Lincoln in the 80s and early 90s.... 4 state titles, 5 final fours 6 super-sectional titles, and 9 sweet 16s.... about as dominant as you get for a decade and a half.

You're right TC. His draft stock certainly is dropping rapidly...
...To #30 in the 1st round according to this site and probably not even in the 1st round by the time they come out with thier next Mock.

Keep an eye on the next 4 or 5 UK games. Whitney has dropped out of the starting lineup and in the last game only played 7 minutes against GT. Also, in the NBADRAFT NET that was referenced on here earlier, Whitney is no where in the first 2 rounds.
Whitney is such a great example of the blue bloods not being necessary to find success. Imagine if Whitney had chosen Illinois and we were rocking a starting lineup of Frazier, Ayo, Whitney, Giorgi, Kofi & Feliz, Williams, Griffin, Kipper, and Jones off the bench. That's a wicked crew. Hopefully other Chicago players take notice and realize they can flourish here too.
He can’t shoot.....not saying I wouldn’t take him but that’s why he isn’t seeing the floor.Whitney is such a great example of the blue bloods not being necessary to find success. How does he end up with a final Composite ranking of #11 if he can't shoot? He can’t shoot.....not saying I wouldn’t take him but that’s why he isn’t seeing the floor.
This has happened a ton. Great athleticism can cause people to overlook shooting issues. How does he end up with a final Composite ranking of #11 if he can't shoot?
I get being "overrated," but #11? Come on. If he really can't shoot then this is a major fail by all the recruiting services. This has happened a ton. Great athleticism can cause people to overlook shooting issues.
Not quite the ratings of Whitney but Sam Thompson I think was overrated the same way
He could out athlete kids in high school, defense isn't as good in high school, and he his now going against the cream of the crop almost every game now.I get being "overrated," but #11? Come on. If he really can't shoot then this is a major fail by all the recruiting services.
Cal is not great on developing. Great recruiter, Whitney is evidence of his development skills. Underwood though, Giorgi, Kofi, hopefully Ayo, Black has done well.
