Wouldn't mind Podziemski, but we don't have many solid ball handelers. Much prefer a true backup PG, Brunette, and transfer big.

I think Frazier and Damonte may return. But without Frazier just leaves Curbello as the only PG. Kofi and Ayo gone. Unless Hamlin improves dramatically, need a transfer big to help Giorgi next year. See Hamlin and BBV as backups.
Selling a good prep PG on being a backup with ~10 mpg for 2 years minimum is the definition of a hard sell.

The path to the NBA will be measurably easier for Miller (and Burnett?) if they improve their ball handling skills. Are they going to morph into points? Doubtful. But is stepping in, while AC is out, feasible? It should be.

Trent and DMW don’t count as scholarships. COVID free year.
True, but their scholarships in essence given to incoming players.

If we might really have six new faces in 21-22, I was highlighting the six most likely scholarships to be utilized by the incoming players. And yes, because DMW and Trent are allowed to stay, that means we would have 15 scholarship players on the roster for one season.

I think people understate the mpg that a good freshman can get and overstate what is given to upper classmen when teams are recruiting well. Jared Butler, for example, is averaging 29.2 mpg. There's plenty of room in the rotation to play two "point guards" if they're worthy of the time.

He'd have to be awfully good to take minutes away from Curbelo. There are myriad other less obstructed paths, which equates to a difficult sell.

No reason Curbelo can't be on the floor with another PG. happens all the time.
Point taken, but:
- Curbelo will always have the keys when he's in
- Miller and hopefully Burnett are going to get a lot of minutes
- if Burnett is a no go, it will be an easier sell. But he's deciding rather late in the cycle

100% yes, there's an opportunity. But it's rather small. Pitching that to an A lister is gonna be hard.

I wouldn't say small opportunity.

But this is what sets great recruiters apart. Self sold dee and deron and after they came on still got mcbride.

Wonder if Hutch is still a possibility? No news but another possibility of BU’s news that we know nothing about.

There was a player on our bench against Nebraska that looked like Hutch. Could it be that he is now back with the team. I recognize all the players. This person looked a bit like Grandson.

I don’t get why people think Trent and Damonte will be back. They both went through senior night. They also both have talked about it being almost over on social media.
No one knows. I don't see any definitive reason they wouldn't come back. I think seniors across the board are still going through senior night even if they have decided they are coming back....this is an assumption on my part, but if you have validation to the contrary, I sure will listen.

I can definitely see them go, but I see a lot more reasons why each would want to come back.

They might be back. Their love for the program is strong.

I do like that the NBA is requiring seniors to opt in to the draft, thus taking the burden off the kid to opt out if they want to stay in school. Also means we will know on Trent and Damonte sooner rather than later.

Hutch is working with one of the elite offseason basketball strength and conditioning coaches, who has been posting training videos and heralding him as a future pro. If he plays next year, I suspect he will be one of our best players

Link to vids?

Fletch is very connected in the strength and conditioning world, and Drake Berberet was a former sports scientist for Illinois. Drake has obvious connections to Paul Fabritz (the trainer in LA) through his business (Hawkins Dynamics) and other close associates. I don't think it's an accident that this relationship was facilitated, and I expect Hutch back next year
