A developing 7’3” Harold Yu from Sierra Canyon hasn’t committed anywhere. Could be an inside presence and lob city for Curbelo.
This is a kid I’ve seen live numerous times, as my kids’ school is a conference rival of Sierra Canyon. Yu is pretty solid. Decent fundamentals. Has two decent post moves and can face up and shoot from midrange. Footwork kind of slow on defense. Really big frame (not a string bean), but lacks strength; a year in a college or pro strength program will do him wonders.

Wasn’t featured in SC’s offense the past couple years, but that’s totally unsurprising given the kids ahead of him in the 2019 and 2020 classes. A real shame that the season might never get off the ground here in SoCal; tough on seniors like Harold who were waiting until this year to finally get a chance to shine. Last time I saw him (around a year ago) I’d peg him a fringe Top 100 talent, but no idea how he’s developed since then. Friend of mine who’s kid goes to that school says rumor is that he’s just going to go pro overseas, but I take that with a huge grain of salt.

1) Were there actually people holding out hope for that?

2) This dude just scrubbed away team names from his jerseys (poorly) but didn't bother doing it for conference logos?
My HU grad friends must be bumming. And holding their breath whether Makur Maker ever plays for them.

Hard to find any tape on the kid out there. Sounds like an athletic wing who might be rising. The tiny bit I can find on him shows a really nice stroke, a natural aggressiveness to his game, a desire to hit the glass and impressive length. Mississippi State and Wazzu have also offered and he said he's heard from Oregon. The obvious Dominican connection is great for us. We've killed it with Feliz and Curbelo so I have full faith right now in any kid we pursue from that region turning into a player for us.

As for the rest of 2022, hard to predict our scholarship situation at this point but man, if we can land Jaden Schutt and AJ Casey, I'll never say another word about our recruiting. Love those kids.

Also, whatever happened to that white kid who could absolutely shoot it from North Carolina whose parents had ties to Illinois? I think he was a 2022 kid or maybe 2023. Can't even find him on 247

This post is making me wonder whether the unique conditions over this past year+ will open the door to more diamond in the roughs being snagged than usual. Granted, could easily go the other way too, but this would appear to be a recruiting cycle where the risk that a recruit won't work out is higher but the possible reward for a given recruit might be higher as well, relative to their recruiting ranking.

Oscar Tshiebwe has entered the transfer portal. Hopefully we get involved again.

BU needs to go hard at him as he is a player who will be a good fit.
Very viable replacement for Kofi. During the recruitment, we went full bore after Kofi because Tshiebwe committed elsewhere...

It would seem odd that a player who doesnt fit w/ Huggins would fit w/ Underwood.... or am I missing somethign
Yeah, if you start out with "hey, I learned from your former coach!" the chances are pretty slim

Complete conjecture on my part but I'm wondering if he's going to go ahead and pursue the draft like Khalil Whitney did. Just getting that vibe from the whole situation. I think Whitney entered the transfer portal as well before deciding to go pro, but I may be misremembering. Also appears Kentucky is involved and we know how that usually works out for us!

I also think he's unlikely to pick UI anyway with Kofi looking like he's not a lock to go pro. Wasn't part of his problem at WVU that they were playing him a lot at the 4 when he's much more comfortable at the 5?

His shot is a thing of beauty and he’s super athletic, I’m in! In that interview he said he talks to Coach O daily, so I’m guessing he really likes him as well. Is he related to Chris Duarte? If he’s anything like Chris, I’m all in.

So it looks like we have reached out to Oscar and he is interested after all... Hmm

Nobody on this board. I think Lieb is ahead of him for PT.

Never should have left West Lafayette. He was a loooooooooooong shot for even the G League before the two transfers and now opt out. Created his own red flags... or his “whisperers” did.
