It is always an issue when the big boys get involved. And most always they wait until late...cause they can. I wish we could get back our clout and be like that again. Maybe one day soon.

I wouldn't say they are coming in to "grab him up" because there is certainly no guarantee he commits. Really, the complaint is they can come in late and essentially get automatic serious consideration because they are UK with the thread to "grab him up".

How can you go to high school for 4 years then prep school for another year & be eligible for 4 years of college? Isn’t that the same as holding your kid back a year before kindergarten? He or she will be bigger and more developed than the normal kid entering school at the standard age? To me that’s cheating

Nothing but a feeling but I think Whitney commits on the visit given the "final 6" coming out. UK will push for it on the visit and Kahlil will not turn away his dream school (based on an old article about wanting that dream UK offer I read a while back).
The positive is we move on to other wings sooner and have more time to devote resources to them.

I think Kansas is closer to MSU than Duke/UK.

I get what you're saying, but not the best way to BUILD a program. Ayo should be the first step to help get guys like Whitney, not be the comfort blanket when we miss on them.

I just wonder how much we're hobbled now by having pitched Shannon on teaming up with Whitney. I'm sure other teams do that kind of thing too, but it's always seemed like a strange decision to me.

There is room for more than one wing on a team, and it is highly doubtful that a top 10 type player would be scared away if a team is also recruiting someone much farther down the list like that. These kids know that teams win game. If we lose out on Whitney, it's not because we talked to Shannon.
