He may not be an instant impact guy - or maybe he will be. Regardless, I absolutely love TF's enthusiasm for the O&B...and it seems to be contagious with his uncle all the way in FLA following the weekend closely.

WANT!

His uncle is very pro-Illini. Has re-tweeted a bunch of positive stuff. Having Trent and staff video-chat family that is still in Florida is a good move too. Helps make them more comfortable with the distance.

You know I wonder how much game planning goes on for the staff on how to chat with the recruit. Things to say vs not to say. Like are there buzz words/topics they tend to stay away from. I'm thinking for someone like Dee where this is his first "official" visit with a recruit since being in his new position. Does Groce give him free reign to just let his infectious love for Illinois ooze out of does he tell him how and what to talk about?

I would think things are pretty much scripted. Too much at stake to leave it to chance.

I think you let Dee be Dee!

Dee doesn't need to be "coached" on what to say. He's relatable to young people and that's what makes him such a valuable asset to our program. I feel like it'd be insulting to tell him how to handle himself.

isnt one of the major benefits of having a guy like Dee that he doesn't need to be scripted?

Wind him up, point him in a direction, and let him go!!

I think too many posters are taking "scripted" too literally. You review the player's coaches, family members, local information and have a schedule on where to go on campus and which university personnel will meet him, but the general conversation in between those activities is organic. Each of these coaches has been doing the recruiting game long enough to know how this works.

Looking at all the pics, you have to be happy with how the official is going... A+ thus far. Please keep the rain away and get a nice little slice of Champaign night life tonight...
