Smith has been dominating @ NBPA Top 100, Peach Jam Invitational and now the Summer Classic in MKE. These are the type of performances that get one to rise up the rankings vs tank them.

It seems like the light has come on for him. Early in his career, I thought he would end up in the top 50. Now, after an up-and-down junior campaign, it looks like he might after all. He's got an NBA 3-and-D wing profile if he can get a little more consistent from outside.

Hey guys - Agree on the board visits. Fun to be back when things seem to be ticking up. Just got off a big project so haven't been into the recruiting talk or anything else for that matter for quite some time.

Just want to hear everyone's thoughts on the younger Finke. I finally got to watch some video on him. It left me feeling...."eh." I mean especially relative to his ranking. I feel like a strong wind could blow the kid over.

Anyone else who has watched him in person or knows more about his game, can you please enlighten me?

Thanks :)

Jordan Goodwin, Tim Frazier and Theo John rounding out the class would really make me happy.

I think Frazier will commit to us sooner rather than later.

On the other hand.....that young Smith kid. Wow! Seriously athletic - I don't see much difference in his game vs. Kris Wilkes...other than the massive ranking differential 50+ spots.

Why such a huge gap? One vastly overrated, one vastly underrated, or is it a smidgin of both?

He's generally regarded as a solid outside shooter. Sounds streaky but dangerous.

The two times I have watched Trent Frazier play live he was lights out from 3 point range. He is a good outside shooter. It's possible that 'faster' play has made an impact on his outside shooting, but I believe he will be just fine from from the 3 point line.

We should go all in on Trent Frazier. Inside track, a bird in the hand, top player on his HS team and in his region, led team to championship, Top 150 Rivals and Top 100 Scout. #74 on Scout. Coveted PG position. Don't over think this one!!

+1. Especially if Scruggs either truly eliminated us or just forgot to mention us to a reporter. I'd still rather have the top-35 kid just because it's a safer bet, but there's a lot to like about Frazier.

Like when he comes for an official next month? Just wondering if that's what you mean by sooner rather than later.

Agreed - Scruggs is the normal trap we fall in. Don't fall for it this time. He's top 40 and not from downstate Illinois. Go with the bird in hand. Know thyself.

Meyer changed his Kris Wilkes CB from Indiana to Michigan yesterday. He also changed his Paul Scruggs CB from Indiana to Xavier yesterday and 2 other guys followed suit today. Wonder what he's heard but I imagine it didn't go over well on Hoosier boards. Any rumblings going around could be why Groce has been at Frazier's first two games at BOTS. If he's there this afternoon, I am going to assume Scruggs is such a long-shot he's going all in on Trent. Which I will now say is a good move, (not that what I say matters).

Anyone know the "downfall" on Frazier? I see he doesnt have too many "big" offers.... Not that it matters to me, I like his game a lot. Its something about a lefty point guard that really get me jacked up. We all know what Groce did with the last lefty point guard that he had!

I'm trying to figure this out as well. There has to be some downside beyond not playing in bigger showcase tournaments. I find it hard to believe that this message board knows more about an "extremely athletic floor general with great leadership qualities who can score" than coaches who livelihoods depend on knowing these type of things.

I think it's more like, "extremely athletic combo guard who can score, but needs to add strength, may not be a true PG and is small for a SG, hasn't played in many showcase events, and mysteriously rode the bench this spring with Florida Elite, for whom he's now dominating...which is kind of weird. Why didn't he play more in the spring?"

And that makes more sense. Still though, he's having a great event this week and remains a lead guard with elite quickness and a nose for the basket. His performance this week is reassuring to me. Hopefully it leads to a little bump in the rankings.

One thing that confuses me is that Frazier doesn't seem to have offers from any of Miami, FSU, or Florida. Does he even have USF or FGC offers? Wonder why the state schools haven't been all over a kid who averaged 22 pts and 5 ast for a large school state champ last year.

UNF count??

Scout shows an offer from Florida (Rivals does not), but they got a commit from a top 50 PG so it's probably no longer valid.

Come on now, watching players on YouTube show their best skills and reading articles about their basketball prowess makes us subject matter experts, too, doesn't it? :D
