Maybe it's fair to say that the Goodwin/Sergio comp is like comparing Mario in SMB3 when he gets a fire flower to the small, pre-mushroom Mario. Small Mario is still awesome because he is Mario, but when he gets a couple of power-ups it's a whole new game.

Finally makes sense

If he has anywhere near the passion and all-around game as Sergio we will be quite fortunate. (if he commits)

Passion, check.
All-around game: better across the board

Again, the absolute floor is McClain numbers and impact. The ceiling is Roosevelt Jones and Draymond Green like.

Seen both of them a ton. Goodwin reminds me of Marty Simmons. Except Goodwin is a better jumper.

Not sure I follow.

Who are the "top two players " to whom you refer ?

Who is the Adidas school that scares you in your scenario ?

None of it scares me, I'm expressing why there is zero comparison to the Cliff Alexander scenario mentioned.

When Okafor and Jones picked Duke (a Nike school), the value of Cliff being an Adidas guy increased a lot.

Good comparison (coming from someone that hates comparisons). Goodwin is more athletic, a better rebounder, arguably a better passer. But The Mule was a great scorer. I'll be very surprised if Goodwin scores nearly as many points as Simmons did.

For all you say, that is why I don't really see that comparison. I saw Simmons play a lot in high school and have seen Goodwin numerous times. Other than being extreme competitors, I don't see a lot in their games that is similar.

As has been mentioned by others, I see a better high school version of Ravonte Rice. He is more team oriented and with a better drive to win (like Sergio/Bruce Douglas/Lucas Johnson/Kenny Battle) but the skill set is similar to Rice's, imo.

A "more team-oriented" Rayvonte Rice is exactly what I was thinking, as well.

Here is to a commitment and less theoretical! Please.

Goodwin has a much better skillset at this point than Rice. Rice never really had great handles but Goodwin is almost like a PG at times with the way he handles the ball and brings it up the court. Pretty much all of Rice's drives were straight lines to the basket but Goodwin seems a little more shifty, more dynamic.

True, and I think a lot of people forget Goodwin has a 6'10" wingspan. Plenty have said Goodwin won't blow you away with his athleticism or frame but he really does have a basketball build.

Where did you see that wingspan information? He doesn't look like he has real long arms, but obviously photos can be deceiving.

this made me curious about height as well, he seems to be listed at anywhere from 6'2" to 6'4"...this link looks like it comes from update from Nike Academy, which I assume is less likely to be exaggerated 6'3.5"tall & 6' 10" wingspan

Thanks for the link! Height is with shoes. Other notable measurements: Malcolm at 6'5.5, 235, 6'8.5 wingspan; Tilmon at 6'10.5, 258 (!), 7'1.5 wingspan. Sounds like Tilmon has packed on a few pounds during his recovery. I think he's played around 240 in the past. After (hopefully) 2 years with Fletch, I'm thinking he'll check in at a beastly 265 or so.

the thing that nobody considers when talking wingspan is finger nail length. how often does he clip them? does he let them grow out?
