Joel Goodson

ties will be resolved
6'4, 200, strong frame, good to very good athleticism, high motor, high IQ, good attitude, gets to the rack at will, excellent defensive potential. Average to below average shooter, average ball handler for a PG (VG for a wing), still learning to play PG. Plenty of evaluators think he's still better playing the 2. If he proves he can play PG at the P5 level he has the look of an NBA draft pick. If not, he's an undersized 2G with a suspect jumper - like a poor man's Dion Waiters with (presumably) better shot selection.

Edit: No matter what--whether he proves to be a PG or ends up as an attacking wing--with his size, strength, speed, and competitiveness, he'll be a really good college player.

Sounds like a more polished, more consistent version of DMW.

So not a VG PG, but still known to groove to the BeeGees?

TCTORNADO was kind of our lead comment maker on Scruggs. Hopefully he has not given up on us.

Waiting until Mr. Goodwin's birthday will be torture, but I'm happy to have heard no rumblings of JG setting OVs so far. Mind all set maybe. Any rumblings of JG visits?

Scruggs as a PG is in the same category as Jaquan Lyle.

I can see that. I think Lyle is slicker, probably a better passer, and more ball dominant, while Scruggs is slightly quicker and seems to be more of a high-character kid. I think Scruggs will have a similar statistical impact.

Haven't seen anything about visits yet. Would be special if he decided on his bday, but it likely won't drag out that long.

I was wondering if some of the posters here drove him off. He hasn't even logged in for almost a week. Too bad, I looked forward to his posts.

Nah, I'm here. I just banned myself for my STUPID post regarding Pickett. Maybe my worst of 7,000+. Man enough to apologize to all!!We're all Illini fans.
2 tidbits...Goodwin and Tilmon are roommates at Nike camp in LA and secondly, Scruggs recruitment is almost identical to JCL's. Do not count Groce out on this one.
I know Brian Snow says he will be shocked if it's not XU or IU plus all the CB's point to that, but I don't know how to explain this in recruiting terms but the quieter the better.
Question for the night, I wonder why Scruggs has not committed to IU since he's been there probably a dozen times and has had an offer since the 8th grade?
Thanks for taking notice, Lucy.

No problems here TC. We all say something stupid from time to time. Welcome Back.

Scruggs' potential is higher than Frazier's due to his size. As far as their games go, someone on here said Scruggs was like Da'Monte Williams except that he had a consistent motor and in my opinion, that's pretty accurate. Scruggs, at this point, is not a very good shooter, but he seems to have long arms, rebounds well for his position, and can find the open man.

On the other hand, Frazier is definitely a solid shooter and I would say is quicker of the two. As others said, Frazier is shorter and thinner, but a lot of high school seniors are and we've seen what Fletcher can do for players' bodies. I'm not going to be sad if landing Frazier means we are out of the running for Scruggs.

Can anybody who's seen them both play say who has the better open court/straight line speed, change of direction, acceleration? And then mentally, who is the better finish vs pass decision maker?

Those things matter a lot for a "pace and space" ball screen point guard.

I just think Groce has learned from the past and will take Frazier before Scruggs ever makes it to campus even if he is uncommitted post XU. If Scruggs was before Frazier I would agree that there would be a chance but not with the timing of visits.

We can absolutely take both and we would have an amazing stable of guards in that scenario. As a poster mentioned previously, Frazier may be impacted by a Scruggs commit but no way Scruggs is impacted by Frazier.

Agree, but timing makes this a long shot to come in. Just glad all our eggs aren't in that basket.

The assumption here seems to be that Frazier will commit on his visit. That may not be the case.
