Remember when Tilmon and Goodwin were interviewed a few months ago (I think it was) and they were asked about playing together at Illinois and they just kind of looked at each other and smirked. Some on here thought maybe it was a "no way we're playing there" look, when in fact it may have been a "well that's the plan" look.

If somebody wanted to dig that up for me, I’d love to take a look at it again. I can't recall who did the interview..

John Groce knew the importance of the non Chicago in-state kids in '17, so far he is 3-3. Jordan Goodwin is remaining for Illini dream class

Just think, we could have an all-downstate IL lineup in 2017 and 2018:

1 - Damonte Williams
2 - Javon Pickett
3 - Jordan Goodwin
4 - Michael Finke
5 - Jeremiah Tilmon

That's a pretty good lineup, too. Could even replace Tim Finke for one of the guards in 2018 or and it's still a very good, balanced lineup with a good balance of ball-handling, shooting, rebounding, and defensive ability.

Well that was my impression, too. It may be just the editing, but it seemed like most of John's baskets were fairly uncontested dunks. In one he had several hooks and a few jumpers. But Kiir looked far more active and athletic, and was much more aggressive. Maybe that is a nice way of saying "out of control", but he looked like he'd have HUGE upside, and can seriously get out and run the floor. Finally, John's latest AAU results weren't impressive. Then again, I haven't seen any results for Kiir, so...

I've been trying to do some digging on this kid because he is too unknown for how good his mixtapes look (I know mixtapes can be deceiving). Based on this video it appears he might not have started playing in the States until 2 years ago at the earliest. This is him playing for a South Sudanese team in Australia in 2014. Could be a kid that shoots up the rankings this summer.

Theo John reminds me of Gavin Schilling. Anyone that's seen him think that is a favorable comparison?

Not much into comps, but yes. Although John's physique is more impressive.

How about Patric Young of Florida?

He was a 5 star, I believe, but never really was a stud at Florida. It seemed they were always waiting on him to develop offensively. He had that physique though!

Anyone think these Tilmon interviews are making JGood angry basically saying he is already signed up. Kind of stealing the guys thunder a bit here. If Goodwin is coming he might as well just commit since Tilmon is running around telling reporters it is going to happen. Tilmon would be a terrible poker player by the way.

Yes, the thought crossed my mind...but we're Illini fans - we worry. That's what we do.

Still, I'd rather JTil say less.

He lists his hometown as Melbourne. Looks like he just arrived in the states recently to play for Victory Prep, a "school" that clearly states its mission is to produce college and eventually pro athletes. And, of yeah, offer teaching, too.

As of today, Kiir's offer list is arguably better than Fraziers...

Current offers for Mayan Kiir: VCU, Louisville, Illinois, Cincinnati, NC State, UNLV, Clemson.

Kiir's coach, Loren Jackson, lists himself as Head Coach/CEO. He graduated from Chicago State. Jackson lists one of his alumni as Anthony Davis. I wonder if he knows MOB?

Goodwin is not already signed up. I'd now say ther is a 60% chance he commits to the Illini, which is higher than the 40% I gave before tilmon's commitment. Don't let tilmon's interview completely fool you, Goodwin is very much interested in Michigan State and Texas.

Hernricksen also said on the radio that Northwestern is more involved than people think. I'd hate to see this board if that happened.

I always seem to downplay their involvement but you are correct, Collins has been all over Jordan and I expect to see him in St. Louis this weekend.

Oh im sure NW has been "involved" but we all know they wont win this recruitment. Involved doesnt mean interest is reciprocated. You show respect for a school thats been on you for so long but NW's loooong history of losing is going to continue to keep them out of any real recruitments.

It's higher than 60%. I'd say closer to 85-90%. There is a timeline, and you'll see the timeline beginning sometime this week

Tilmon said 90% and you have to imagine he knows more than most "experts" with 2nd and 3rd hand knowledge.

Not trying to argue, but that is inaccurate. Trust me, I'd love it to be 90%, but he is going to visit Texas and Michigan state to see what they have to offer. He is definitely favoring Illinois with Tilmon signing up, but those two visits could easily sway him. I'm open with him about my passion for Illinois, but he is looking to play professional ball someday, and is looking at which program can help him do that. Can Illinois get him to the league better than Michigan state or Texas? Well, that remains to be seen

Finally caught up on all the posts. It was so fun to read all the negative posts saying stuff like, "I don't know why everyone does this to themselves" and "he was supposed to commit back in March so why would do we get our hopes up again?". Then to see all the rejoicing and GIFs. Buckle up Fighting Illini Nation, our time may have finally came!

UI would give him a better chance than Texas and just as good a chance as most places. When he gets to campus the team will have 3 Top 50 recruits on the floor in Black, Tilmon, and JCL. Should Goodwin sign up and his ranking go up some that makes 4 out of 5. Not many teams can say they have 4 Top 50 players. If the staff can pull of the improbable and get Scruggs they can roll out a Top 50 starting 5 which would be something I'm not sure UI has ever done. That would be a team not only capable of a B1G championship but expected to be at the top of the table and make a deep run in the tournament. So to me that argument doesn't really hold water anymore. Add to that that his close friend will be on the team and all signs point orange right now.

Goodwin, like Tilmon, has a 100% crystal ball prediction favoring us. That's good news, but that is generally only reliable when a commitment is imminent. Having said that, Goodwin seems to value the things we can offer. Knowing what Groce values when it comes to playing time (defense, rebounding, and limiting turnovers) Goodwin stands a good chance of playing time which is something he expressed he wants. He also pointed out that he values the fact that Groce offered much earlier than a lot of other schools and that he has a good relationship with him and going so far as to say that Groce gives him advice so he's already like his coach. Plus, I read Groce was at just about every STL Eagles EYBL game recently, but Shaka and Izzo missed a few.

Syracuse? ;-)

Nice rebuttal. Plus, his family will be able to see him play a helluva lot easier than in East Lansing or Austin. Probably gonna resume building that Goodwin statue in my backyard. Thinking of adding Tilmon.

The chances of Goodwin going to Northwestern are similar to the kitties NCAA tournament appearances.. ZERO Same goes for Finke who Collins has been all over of.

Collins is building strong relationships with high school/aau programs for his next head coaching job.
