Finally caught up. Here's my 2 cents on everything (I have no inside info just a guess)

The rest of the class should go Goodwin (soon imo), Scruggs if he'll visit before Frazier & commit in doing so (imo if you land Goodwin before that day there's a damn good chance Scruggs strongly considers joining. Again, just a guess), and then you put the full court press on Derek Culver. IF you can sway Culver to Champaign then great, if not you have a 5th yr transfer & keep it for 2018. It's gonna be a good few months to be an IllinI!

Just a far off thought right now, but say we get Goodwin and Scruggs likes the idea of running the show and commits. What does this do for a guy like Kris Wilkes? It's a far off shot either way, but he's good friends with Scruggs.

I'm curious about the optimism regarding Scruggs. This is a Bloomington, IN kid with an IU offer... is he that tight with Goodwin and Tilmon? Admittedly I'm completely ignorant of the intel here but on the face of it seems like a long shot...

Not trying to argue, but that is inaccurate. Trust me, I'd love it to be 90%, but he is going to visit Texas and Michigan state to see what they have to offer. He is definitely favoring Illinois with Tilmon signing up, but those two visits could easily sway him. I'm open with him about my passion for Illinois, but he is looking to play professional ball someday, and is looking at which program can help him do that. Can Illinois get him to the league better than Michigan state or Texas? Well, that remains to be seen

He's not going to visit those places. I can confidently say that

Just reading the table.....

I can say with confidence that I read the situation correctly a few months ago:

With that being said, let's talk about Tilmon's poker playing abilities. LOL. He has a pair of bullets and everyone at the table now knows it. In other words, Goodwin is going to commit soon enough and the next we will be worrying about is what is of utmost importance. CAN WE GET ANOTHER BIG or two and possibly a surprise stud commit like Scruggs?

Love my Illini,

Goodwin is not already signed up. I'd now say ther is a 60% chance he commits to the Illini, which is higher than the 40% I gave before tilmon's commitment. Don't let tilmon's interview completely fool you, Goodwin is very much interested in Michigan State and Texas.

I'll take 60/40. I generally say it's always less than 50/50 against the field. So if you're thinking 60/40, that's saying alot.

JCL is from Indy. Yeah, different situation, because his last 2 years were at LaLu, but still. Groce has Scruggs ear (not suggesting he's the only one), maybe Tilmon and Goodwin can tip the balance. Oh, how sweet that would be.

Sorry I misread him being from Bloomington thanks for the correction. Did JCL have an offer from IU?

Yes. IIRC, he received the offer when he was 15.

The Scruggs burn, should it happen, will be almost as great as his commitment.

Did I see something about Scruggs cancelling a visit to Illinois recently? Or am I making that up. I can't seem to find anything online.

Scruggs won't be playing for Illinois. Those close to him say he already has his mind made up.

I believe there's also a connection with JCL and Scruggs families. Not sure on the details of that though.

JCL's Dad and 2 Uncles went to and played BB @ Southport HS, which is the same HS as Scruggs. The 2 families know each other well.:thumb:

Is that recent information - meaning post-Tilmon commitment?

So it is written. Wish it were Scruggs, but that's ok. Frazier is worth being excited about. Not the put the cart before the horse, but I'm going to anyway. A point guard who checks out in athleticism, shooting & intangibles is a wonderful addition to direction we're going.

Thomas Allen is still in this mix. Long way to go folks, hold tight....:)

Those close to him understand recruiting is fluid.:)

+1
Coach will go after Scruggs no matter if he has supposedly made up his mind or not. Recent events help rather than hurt our chances with him.
