He put the picture back up with the caption "It's not what y'all think, just supporting my bro, Tyler Cook.

Crisis avoided! :D

So, no word on the Smith visit? I'm more interested in that than this jacket nonsense.

The silence is deafening. But it looks like this will be the norm for this administration and our new coaching staff.

I hear smith to Butler. And by hear, I mean l saw a crystal ball recently go that way

The only crystal ball prediction so far is by this guy. He's 100% pro-Butler. Either he's got a great inside scoop no one else has or he's throwing one out there with no insight just hoping for a correct guess so he can boost his stock.

Smith hasn't yet visited Butler.

We will miss one of Smith or Damonte. If you are able to accept this and relax, then you will be so happy when they both commit to Illinois.

Here's a question I've been pondering and maybe there is no black and white answer, but maybe someone has a better handle on the etiquette involved. Obviously its standard practice with a coaching change that recruits would be released from their LOIs by the school if they request it. I'm wondering, with some reports that certain schools continue to apply pressure even after kids have reaffirmed their commitment to the new coach and even when doing so represents a clear recruiting violation... how long does this grace period last? How long would you give a kid to change his mind without damaging your future efforts with other players?

Put another way... when can we relax and not fear being Conzou'd :noidea:

There is no rule. A player can always ask for his release, and the LOI is always in effect. Chances that a school tries to block a release are slim to none, mainly because of the backlash. So there is no expiration date.

I don't think we need to worry about Cuonzo with our signed guys. Tilmon's mom said she had never even met Cuonzo. Smith is the one to watch. Cuonzo was recruiting him at Cal (probably thinking he'd soon be at UI or Mizzou) and Smith is obviously familiar with Mizzou.

Here's why I'm not too worried about our signed guys:

http://www.indystar.com/story/sport...-trying-hold-onto-ius-2017-recruits/99664312/

As soon as Crean was fired, two IU recruits asked for a release. My guess is that JW and the athletic department reached out to our recruits and were transparent with what was going to happen. The fact that none have asked for a release, and BWood has know met with all but one, is telling.

Yep, the end date for the LOI is when the student athlete enrolls at the university. At that point he'd have to transfer and be subject to those stipulations.

Per Smith's camp:
Smith is visiting Butler (unofficially) this week but no commitment has been made to Butler or any school at this point.

I do believe Michigan St. is coming to the house to talk with Smith and his parents this week.

At this time and point Smith is getting ready to narrow down to (2) potentially schools for his (2) official visits.

This was mentioned in Herickson's POY article on Smith. I'd imagine we'll know who the two school are by the end of the week. I expect us to be one them, along with one of Butler, KSU, MSU, or Mizzou.

I would be ok with your scenario, but, that would mean all of our recruits were able to hold their conversations/twitters/social media.

These are teenagers and not one leak happened. If the staff did reach out to them and they WERE able to remain quiet, then I am very impressed.

I'm not saying we told them months in advance. I mean in the day or so leading up to it. That we made sure they felt included in the process and were not an afterthought.

I'm not sure this is a deafening silence. I think it's more of the ordinary type. I wouldn't expect public statements from our players who have signed LOI's unless it is to opt out of them. In that case, I rather prefer the silence.

As for Smith, the silence is expected. His camp had thrown out a date of April 12th as a goal of deciding by then. Sounds like they are appropriately weighing their options.

That expectation is crazy. All four guys are going to reaffirm their commitments publicly (loudly, repeatedly, social media-ly), or ask out of their LOI's. That neither has happened yet is bizarre.

The four players are already signed. If they were to make anything public, wouldn't it be asking out of their LOI? Do you want a press conference or something? Tilmon has reaffirmed in several ways, the best way being with the coaches. They also told the St. Louis reporter who tweeted it out. Pickett is on board. He also has made that clear. Frazier has been the most vocal. They are seeing Williams today. The meeting with Smith went very well. He set April 12 as his day to announce.

Henson landed Bardo, Gill, Larry Smith, N Anderson in one class eventhough he already had talented guards on the roster. M Smith would fit so nice in UnderWoods offense, especially on drives to the basket.

I get wanting to hear confirmation from the signed commits. But this is a huge decision for them. Keep in mind that both Pickett and Williams committed to Illinois while Brad Underwood was actively coaching Stephen F. Austin. There's a good chance that the meetings this week are the first time either player has met the guy.

I honestly think that Williams is waiting to see what Smith does and vice versa. I don't think that anybody wants to feel recruited over, especially coming off of an injury. If this were next year and players got a chance to see Underwood's philosophy in action, it's a much easier sell than to tell a kid and his parents that 6 guards on a roster is going to provide for ample playing time....while at the same time, another school is telling you that you're going to come in and get 20 minutes a game from the get go.

This is what I agree with. I don't think all this is as put to bed as some are making it out to be. It might end up working out that way, but currently, I think it's still up in the air....less Frazier. He's locked in and has been from the beginning.

I think what people expect is that Tilmon, Pickett and Williams come out as supportive of the program and their intent as Frazier did. There is no ifs, ands or buts about him. When you have one guy who does that, then the others who, to my knowledge, have not made a public statement(written or verbal)....it makes people wonder.

If there's one thing to know about teens, it's that they're all pretty much the same and will act the same way.

I kid, I kid.

But for real - if you're starting the post with "I think what people expect" and "the people" in question are those who post about college sports on message boards....well, those expectations are often not going to synch up with real life.

And I get that and you're right.

I guess my point is, when a person can take the time to post a pic with another schools jacket on, then straighten it out that it's not what you think....kind of knowing that they put questions into a fan bases mind, why not just clear it up? Yes, kids are different. Some joke, some are more excited and straight forward, etc. Some fans are different. Some look into everything, some just roll with whatever happens.

Real life is, there is no way to tell that this is all wrapped up until it comes from the mouth of the family, coach or player.
