Mark Smith would look awesome in orange and blue, wouldn't he?
Dammit Ward why do you have to be so hard on the beaver?

But his reaction when Groce was let go was different than say; Williams & Tilmon.
Those 2 needed confirmation before reaffirming their commitment. Frazier didn't.
My point was, Frazier's comfort with the university was to a point where he felt comfortable staying with his commitment during the transition. Groce had a lot to do with that, but Frazier reacted differently.
There is no right or wrong way here. Each recruit has varying degrees of comfort with certain aspects of a program.
I'm not disagreeing with you. Just trying to read between the lines of Smith's decision making process. Which, I could be completely off about.
Huh?
AMEN! Well played, Kathy.[/B]
I think he made Coach Underwood an offer...
Izzo officially offered Smith tonight, and Smith will be taking a visit to MSU's campus "in the coming weeks."
I live and work in East Lansing, and this is coming from one of my friend's who is on the MSU men's basketball staff.
Awful news, as I think MSU is his top choice now. Needless to say I'm bummed...

Not to demean ANY student athlete, but this is kind of ridiculous what's going on with him. In one four months, he's gone from a baseball recruit at Missouri and a basketball recruit that was getting some regional interest......To this high profile guard that Kentucky, MSU and other high DI programs are putting full court press on to get a commitment from?
I think that sometimes these meteoric rises are overblown. I'm not a college scout by any means, but this smells of coaches searching high and low to find a diamond in the rough(especially Kentucky and MSU) late in the recruiting cycle for 2017. Call me a homer, but I really hope this kid stays true to himself, true to what he knows and doesn't have his judgement clouded by the Izzo's and Cal's of the world. It's a good way to end up buried on somebody's bench for two years, when he could have been getting early minutes at the schools he was initially looking at. Very common mistake to get lured by the big names....The Bluebloods. Then, you're stuck.
In the entire history of coaches visiting players and players visiting schools I'm pretty sure Josh Brent's trip to Iowa was the only one that didn't get reported as going well.

Will be the first test of the Underwood era.....beating out Izzo and Martin for Smith. Got a feeling it won't end well at this point...
Who was the kid that was visiting us and got eaten alive by Deron at open gym?

Maybe Derrick Jasper.
The one that concerns me most is MSU/Izzo. MSU I believe will be short (no pun intended) at the PG and G spot next season. But will have very talented bigs (Schilling, Ward, Bridges, J Jackson). There is a chance Bridges goes pro, and you can probably add Tuggs Bowen to that list of MSU players.
Indiana and Missouri are in more of a rebuild mode, not sure what will happen until after the MCAA game. But MSU has more structure in place. Illinois is more Guard and Wing heavy at this point, but has a very nice offense to run next season. I think it comes down to where he feels he fits in the best and comfort with program and university.
