But the Illini already have numerous discussions going on in these Soap groups...

AS THE WORLD TURNS - the thread about the yearly college coach churnings

DARK SHADOWS - the thread about the Illini roundball years after 2005

DAYS OF OUR LIVES - the Illini Discussion group discussing The Illini Discussion Group

FOR BETTER OR WORSE - the thread that discusses the Groce years

GUIDING LIGHT - the Whitman thread

ONE LIFE TO LIVE - the “Are They Coming to the Illini?” thread

SEARCH FOR TOMORROW - the thread about the new Illini Assistant Recruiters

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL - The new Illini uniforms thread

THE BRIGHTER DAY - the thread about the yearly Illini Top 20 rankings from now on

THE SECRET STORM - the thread about those who seek to flip Illini commits

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS - the thread that worries about future Illini recruiting

and then there’s... ALL MY CHILDREN - the Lavar Ball thread

I'm impressed, I hadn't heard of a couple of those.

Didn't someone say awhile back that a recruit is just waiting for a Kentucky offer to say thanks but no thanks I'm going to Illinois? Maybe this will be that! :chief:

in response to HTT, The 2005 team played three guards most of the time with one forward and one center. Deron Williams, Luther Head, and Dee Brown, along with Roger Powell and James Augustine and That seemed to work out pretty well!! I would take that again in a heartbeat, go Illini. Maybe we need 6 guards so every one can play hard all the time ?

And, the flying Illini were all 6'4" - 6'7". But they could guard and rebound!

Big news fellas. According to Ryan Evan of ESPN Radio in Decatur, a close source has informed him that DaMonte’s visit with Coach Underwood went well and has zero reason to believe DaMonte will decommit.

Great news!

lol. And our staff took how long to offer him. So sad.

This is pure silliness. Nevermind the fact that Kentucky's staff clearly took even longer to offer. Also, offering earlier wouldn't have helped.

Was never really worried about damonte, but good news nonetheless.

+1. Illinois has done fine in this recruitment. With the coaching change there was really nothing more they can do.

People seem so confident about Smith. Again, what am I missing here?

your missing the orange koolaid. I am an optimist though and hope he'll appreciate being part of something special in his home state school over the next few years.

Naaa. It took weeks for them to decide to even offer after all the info and tape needed was out there. Kentucky is coming late because they can... we on the other hand waited way too long to offer him. Doesn't mean he won't or will come here... just an honest observation.

If you are Mark Smith why go to Kentucky? He's not the kind of kid that's looking for a payout and he's likely not a one and done. At UK he's going to be competing with 2-3 Top 30 guards just in his own class for playing time, not to mention what they pull the next few years. He can come to Illinois and be the man at a school just a few hours from home. If I was him, it wouldn't be a close call

The staff hasn't been in place for weeks. They made him a top priority, in fact it would appear he is their exclusive priority outside the already signed recruits.
