Class of 2021 forward Mike Foster weighing reclass to 2020

Mike Foster, the 6-foot-10 Class of 2021 power forward from Hillcrest Prep (AZ) who models his game after Kevin Durant, has been conducting Zoom calls with a number of high-major schools during the pandemic and is weighing a reclass to 2020.

Foster, who averaged 26 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks a game last season, has had Zoom calls with Baylor and Georgia and expects to have them soon with Kansas and Illinois, according to his mentor, Chianti Clay, the coach of the Hillcrest Prep National team. Florida State and Michigan have also been in touch several times recently.

Interesting. Sounds like he’s weighing 2 years of college vs 1 year of HS then G League. Would be phenomenal if he reclassed, and joined Illini, and that’s an understatement.

(for those that didn’t read article - his age prevents him from entering NBA draft until 2022 so regardless of when he leaves HS he’s still 2 years away from NBA)

Certainly fill our hole at PF. Imagine he and Kofi on the front line with Trent, Adam and Ayo. And depth to spare!

Yeah, a Kevin Durant clone would fit nicely into the starting 5 next to Kofi, Ayo, Adam Miller and Curbelo. National title contender for sure!

Let's see...(1) Kofi's likelihood of returning is low (2) the likelihood of Ayo returning is low (3) the likelihood of both returning is extremely low (4) Trent Frazier will be starting if there is a season no matter who is on the team. Other than that......

What are the odds of landing this guy? Could be a real game changer

A Kevin Durant clone would fit nicely next to literally anyone, including Kevin Durant.
He’s not a Kevin Durant clone. He’s much more physical than Durant is right now. He is more of a Chris Webber type but not quite the manchild Webber was coming out of HS

Feel like we are going to be banking heavy on a Kofi-like impact freshman in 2021 down low. Unless we think a senior Giorgi is going to start there--not opposed.

Also still feel like we really need someone at the 4. Maybe that's BBV or a bigger wing not sure, just not liking our front court in 2021. Looooong way to go.

Do we think Kofi will get drafted in 2021? If he comes back this year, and still doesn't have an outside shot and/or quicker feet by the end of next year, I doubt he would be drafted in 2021 too.
Edit: apologies if you meant at the 4 the whole time and I'm being dumb.

senior Giorgi would be fine starting at center as long as we have either a really good 4, or a strong freshman 5 who can also give solid minutes. Giorgi's biggest issue at the 5 is his defense and foul trouble.

Played with Adam Miller on the MIF AAU team.:thumb:

Think that gives us an actual chance?

I would think having a high-ranked player that played with him and presumably, the coaching staff/handlers of the AAU squad gives us a pretty good advantage.

I don't follow AAU stuff at all other than what people post on here; is it safe to assume that Adam Miller was the second best player to Foster on this AAU squad?

I'd probably agree with you here. He seems more muscular and a stronger build than Durant RIGHT NOW. KD was SKINNY coming out of high school. I also highly doubt his handles are even close to KD.

I wish I had seen Webber in his early days. I was a big Kings fan when they were oh so close to beating the Lakers and I loved watching Webber, but his decline was quick.

His plan sounds very similar to Ayo's, maybe even more aggressive. Stay 2 and leave. Much greater chance he leaves this year compared to Ayo last year. Barring a down season, I think he's gone, regardless of if he gets drafted. Just my general feel.

I meant both the 4 and 5. As it stands now, we seem to be really pushing the 4 guard lineup with Kofi at the 5, which is probably ok given his presence. My concern is, can we play 4 guys 6'5" and shorter along with Giorgi at the 5 if Kofi leaves? I don't believe so, but the game is so guard centric maybe we'll be just fine. If we can get someone like etienne, I don't see any reason we can't push forward, but we really need a guy who can play immediately in 2021.
