I like Alstork a lot. It worries me that L'ville is his last visit, but still I think we have a lot going in our favor.

Louisville has a lot going for them too...

I have never heard of this site before and I am not so sure about some of the analysis, but it is always nice to see a positive mention for one of our recruits:

4 Underrated College Basketball Recruits in the 2017 Class

3. Da'Monte Williams
Illinois commit Da'monte Williams is about as a good of a scorer as anyone else in the 2017 recruiting class. At 6-3 Williams is a bigger guard, his shooting abilities accompanied by his impressive athleticism is enough to overwhelm any defender. Illinois has traditionally been a team that lives and dies by the three. Williams is a great shooter and will likely fit right into the Fighting Illini game-plan. Williams is ranked number 90 in ESPN's rankings. I think most would agree he should be quite a bit higher.

Before MS committed Da'Monte was always the recruit (including JT who I'm still in on) that I was the most high on. I know Trent gets the most talk because his personality in infectious and Dee-esque but a backcourt of Mark and Da'Monte would be physically devastating.

Now how he quickly he recovers from his injury remains to be seen.

Seems a little early in the year for our annual Mike the Elevator discussion. Could really go for an Alstork commitment right about now.
I'm with you FiveStar.

Meanstreets is adding tOSU de-commit Darius Bazley from the Under Armour circuit for the run to Peach Jam. Also saw a tweet that they're adding Kevin Easley, a VCU commit and 4 star SF from Indianapolis. Finke won't have to shoulder the scoring burden all by himself.

I don't feel very familiar with our recruiting class, as I've only seen video of them. I do remember the first time someone linked a video of Trent, I mistakenly was watching the PG on the other team, and kept expecting more from him. When I was done, I thought, man, I liked the other team's PG much better. Guy had a motor, and the infectious quality that smart hustle players sometimes have. If he's not a starter early, I could definitely see him be the kind of guy who comes off the bench and gives your side that 2nd gear.

With our recent lack of talent at guard, I'm excited to see what we can do with Lucas, Trent, Da'Monte, and Mark Smith. We're going to have good talent in the 1-4 spots.

And I completely reserve judgement on our current guys. I want to see what JCL and AJ do in this system before forming any critical opinions.

If we had a center, I would really like our ceiling for this coming season. Not sure if the roster is done for the year, but I hope they have something left in their bag of tricks. If not, I can watch and wait. I really think we're in for a fun resurgence both in recruiting and on the court.

15U coach. Wouldn't bank on Dee recruiting for us.

Maybe not for the current players, but it never hurts to have a former star who bleeds orange and blue coaching in the system of a quality AAU program. Some of those guys on the 15U team might become really good recruits later.

You grossly underestimate Dee. He is still completely all in on the orange and blue and will absolutely be one of our best Chicago recruiting resources as a Meanstreets coach. And if you want to bank on anything, bank on Dee being back in SFC in the future.

I don't underestimate anyone. Having Dee in a major Chicago AAU program is great, but he's trying to work his way up the coaching ranks through the grassroots level. His job isn't to recruit for us.

He may not mean to do it but if he is still all Orange and Blue it will rub off and he will talk about Illinois Basketball in a positive light it wouldn't have to be active recruiting.

DJ is going to be a five star recruit and we have Dee coaching him at age 15. THAT matters!

Mac Irvin Fire (IL): Talen Horton-Tucker: 11.0 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 3.6 APG
Horton-Tucker owns the league’s only triple-double through eight games, proving he's just as versatile in EYBL play as he is during high school play at Simeon (IL). Mac Irvin Fire needs wins, and Horton-Tucker will play a big role in notching them in Atlanta and Los Angeles.
MOKAN Elite (KS): Malik Hall: 8.6 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 1.1 APG, 1.0 SPG Jontay Porter needed a sidekick in the frontcourt, and the sophomore Hall decided it was his time to shine. MOKAN relies heavily on Porter's frontcourt production, making Hall's improvement imperative for the squad's long-term success. His averages are solid for an underclassmen, but he has no choice but to improve on them in an eight-man rotation.

In the land of the Nittany Lion
Because of who he is, he'll be a magnet wherever he is as kids find out who he is. Kids will go him for the coaching aspect. And once they do that, the seed is planted, and watered by whatever success we have on the court. Yeah, it's a good place to have him

Once again... we see the double standard of this board...... "If only we had pro illini guys coaching these kids"........ "oh, having Dee coaching AAU in chicago won't mean anything".... I just don't getyou guys

Dee Brown is 💯 :chief:. You don't have to ask someone to do what is in your blood. Not sure , but I think it's good for U I to have someone of his status in Chicago talking and teaching kids. At anytime or place.:illinois:

You are right its not his job, but there is no doubt in my mind that he doesn't talk about the Illini all the time while coaching. It is just who Dee is. A lot say they bleed Orange and Blue, well with Dee its true

I guess it's bad news if you're still expecting him to come here.
