If this has been posted elsewhere I apologize. Mizzou landed a transfer guard giving them one remaining scholarship for 2017-2018. It will be very interesting to see if Jontay Porter reclassifies to play next year. Still not sure what happens with Tilmon but his options may be narrowing on him quickly.

I'm sure this has been discussed previously, but mizzou got a commit from a transfer yesterday, and according to the article that I read, that leaves mizzou with only one scholarship for next year. From all accounts, there is a still a chance that the younger Porter reclassifies for this year. So, if Tilmon still wants to go to mizzou, he might want to hurry up.

I'm not saying where I think Tilmon goes, because I have no idea, but I figured this information is pertinent to the conversation.

EDIT: Well cardsillinifan beat me to it by like a second. A little freaky how similar our posts are though **looks over shoulder to see if someone is watching me**

If Ayo doesn't think Illinois is where he should be after next year, then so be it. His choice. If he doesn't want to do the whole "stay home" deal, that's fine. We're offering plenty of players that will want to be here.

We'll have tough, solid guards like Smith, Frazier, Lucas, etc. that will already be here and we'll have other top PG options coming up in 19 and 20.

If he wants to be part of the climb back to the top, come on down and join in. If not, he can play at Xavier or Butler, etc. He's got to find the right fit.

That sounds a little too arrogant for a team that hasn't played an NCAA tournament game for 4 years. There is a big difference between offering a bunch of players and getting them here. I think Underwood and his staff can turn this around but stating it as a given seems a bit ridiculous. Losing Ayo would be a big loss.

Nothing arrogant about it. Ayo, his family, and his AAU program have a long relationship with Chin Coleman already built in. They will trust what Chin will tell them about the Illini program and how he would fit into Underwood's system.

If he doesn't believe that system will win and help him improve and advance to the next level, then nothing this staff can do will get him here. If he indeed does make a commitment before the season then he'll have to trust Chin and the staff's word about how the Illini will improve.

If he doesn't want to take that chance, then he goes elsewhere. Plain and simple. By the time the 19s and 20s make their choices, we'll have 1 or 2 seasons of Underwood's system under our belt, Lucas will be a junior/senior, Smith and Frazier and DaMonte will be sophs/juniors and we'll be fine if we land solid 19s and 20s exterior players.

Getting Ayo would be a fantastic get for us. But it won't devastate this program if he doesn't feel like he'll fit in here.

I'll have you know that as an Illinois fan I buy my cups in bulk from CostCo. I'm not running out anytime soon.

Cool, but since we should be a recruiting force in the future years, are they even needed any longer?

I often wonder if any in the "woah is [insert Illini fan]" crowd have ever contemplated just how miserable they would be as fans of the ... hundreds of other basketball programs that have fared worse than we have over the years, haha.

Versatile Simeon product likes what Illini offer

“I’ve been talking to them every day now,” Horton-Tucker said. “That’s what I like a lot. The last coaches, they didn’t talk to me as much as they do now.

“I’m talking with Coach Coleman and Coach Underwood about the same amount. ... Chin, he’s been talking with me since my freshman year. With Chin and all the guys going there now from the Fire, it helps them a lot.”

Also Kevin Knox is supposedly going to announce this weekend. Missouri has not been eliminated according to his Dad.

Exactly how MANY Fire guys are going here so far...or is this an omen for good things yet to come?:chief:

Have heard the same thing. The reason being the younger Porter is most likely going to re-classify. Tilmon wants touches, and with both Porter's there he will not get them.

If he wants touches, sounds like Illinois is the place to go.:chief:

Ubermensch

BOOM! Feed my ego.
Just a couple of reminders for the board:

1) Jeremiah Tilmon is going to be a Tiger.
2) The Braggin' Rights game is going to be absolutely lit this year.

Tilmon isn't going to Mizzou.

Actually, the main reason I'd like to see Tilmon recommit is so we could be the grateful audience of whatever TF decides to tweet.

Morris Udeze (2018) 6'8" C from Richmond, TX says he plans on a visit to Champaign but date not set yet. He currently has six offers but Illinois has one thing others may not, he has family here and he says family is important.

Always liked watching Nnanna play defense. Nothing wrong with having a rim protector on the team. Wish he was a few inches taller, but still has time to grow. Hope he comes here.
