I did some digging, and from what I found, it does indeed look like that we (Self) did not offer Iggy a scholarship. As I mentioned in a previous post, Iggy was a late bloomer; he really did not start to develop until his junior year. If memory serves, he did not make the varsity squad until his junior year.
Rich McBride was all the rage in the Central State 8, and rightfully so. However, I am wondering if you can fault Self for passing on Iggy, as he was still growing in high school, had yet to master the control of his new frame and freakish athleticism, and was always playing second fiddle to McBride at Lanphier. However, once he blew up, he really blew up and became the player and NBA first-rounder that we have seen over the years.
In re: Okoro: the Twitter has been very quiet today, almost too quiet; I am not sure if that is a bad thing or a good thing. While many people do not like Ryan Evan, he has not said a word; and Illinois Hoops, which reports everything, no matter the program so long as it pertains to a player in whom we have shown interest, has been eerily quiet. I hope silence is a good thing, but I am not going going to hold my breath and am stamping a 1% on the likelihood that we get a visit from Sir Francis of Okoro. What a pity. I was thinking of a lineup with Okoro and Kipper in the frontcourt and a backcourt of Trent, Ayo, and Tevian. That would have been a powerful starting five with Da'Monte and Andres grabbing their respective shares of minutes.
