He really wanted that Michigan offer, very close with Howard. Appealing to play with Isaiah Todd.

MIF source told me to expect this, and to watch out for Memphis as well. Rumors are flying of a big de-commit from a blue blood, that could change things as well.

Worth noting if he takes an OV to Michigan this weekend, that will be his last OV. (Louisville, AZ, AZ State, Illinois, and Michigan)

My prediction has not changed. :shield:

However, it ain't gonna be over till the ink drys...
What have you heard about Todd wanting to skip college?

The problem isn't an open spot, we can make room. He just doesn't want to be in a backcourt with Trent, and Ayo.

Which would make him the likely third option at the guard spot.
But Feliz is not a third option at the third guard. Miller may think that way, but he would be wrong, I believe.

He's a great talent, but I'm already done with this recruitment in regards to following it. I'm not sure why this 11/21 ordeal is even happening. What's the point? He agreed that after his announcement, it's still a wait and see approach since he isn't signing. Why not just wait until the spring? He can take his newly offered Michigan visit(since their first choice bailed) and wait on all the blue blood to offer, if they do....then announce when he's sure. He's going to name a school and literally nobody is going to believe it for the next five months. Maybe I'm missing the point? I'm open to anyone explaining how this date means a thing when he's committing, without really committing.

Cup firmly placed.
You're going to have it placed until April and really, it shouldn't even be needed because he's being open about the fact that there's nothing firm about this. If he announces for Arizona, keep recruiting him. If he announces for Illinois, we should keep recruiting the position...these "commitments" need to be a two way street.

Things can definitely change on a dime in recruiting. Whether it's the Irvin's renegotiating, or the player wanting to explore another option doesn't really matter that much. Bottom line is that these high demand guys will be pursued and get a lot of the things they're asking for in a program, and can change there minds at literally any moment.

All I know from following recruiting is that if you're looking for sympathy, you need to stop following recruiting.

What would be better for us a 3rd year of Ayo or 1 year of Miller

3rd Year Ayo, because he is still an outstanding ambassador for the school, Miller I don't believe will ever be that? It goes along ways with recruits to see players who want to accomplish something on their own and as a team. Ayo is going to get his, (after the 3rd year imo), Miller will get his (2 year imo), Ayo is and will always be better in terms of intangibles imo.

foby

Bonnaroo Land
It means Michigan offered him after Burnett spurned them for Texas Tech. So he is (was )obviously a backup plan.

These high drama and fickle feeling recruitments rarely end well. People keep belaboring the point that it makes sense for him to wait to sign in the Spring and see what decision AYO makes. But I think it's an ignorant and irrelevant point IMO (unless he chooses ASU). Here's why, Arizona has clearly more talented guards and will likely bring in other talented guards he would have to compete with (same with Louisville, Kansas, Michigan, etc...) No matter where Miller chooses he's going to face competition at the guard spot, save for ASU or a handful of other schools. Miller also seems interested in going to bigger named schools if they offer (Duke, Michigan, UNC and so on). He's guaranteed to face stiffer competition at these schools. What's my point? Miller is essentially saying a few things about Illinois: 1) He's only willing to come if all of the perfect pieces fall together. 2) He would go to a bigger name school even if there is more competition 3) If he really loved Illinois and wanted to come here, he would commit and sign in a week regardless of what Ayo does.
4) Him visiting Michigan is a perfect illustration that he isn't sold on us and was still waiting for other major schools to offer.

Obviously you still recruit the heck out of him but this really hurts our staff for a few reasons. The biggest problem is they have to continue to divert energy, money, and attention to Miller and the opportunity cost of this is all of those resources are taken away from 2021 kids. Additionally, they now have to start recruiting other guards in 2020 in case Miller goes a different different direction (again similar opportunity costs). Essentially, this really sucks.

I would prefer a year of Ayo, Frazier, Curbello, AND Miller. Particularly in next years game against Arizona.
