This is what happens in CFB recruiting all the time..only difference here is the amount of schollies and the vast variation in talent.

At this point Millers commitment will mean nothing so I wouldn't even celebrate it. It's actually a negative because the staff either thinks they have their man and stop visiting recruits or makes it look bad by continuing to recruit the position.

Millers commitment will be very similiar to Khalil Whitneys last year. Why fully commit when there is unknowns everywhere. The athletes lose in college athletics. What if Underwood leaves or gets fired? When you're a top player you hold some power. If things go as planned, Miller will be at Illinois.

IF Miller does not end up ILLINI, and I actually think there is a real chance of this, I would not be surprised to see that ride carried over to the following year.

We would still have Trent/Andre/Ayo? + Williams/Griffin/Jones? and the 2 transfers, 1 if not both who can handle the ball?

If the coach gets fired, then they will let him out of his commitment. Illinois is not going to fight if a player wants to leave the program. Whether they are an incoming freshman or currently a player. Look at the Mark Smith situation. He played at Missouri without having to sit out. The only unknown is whether Ayo will declare because he doesn't want to split the minutes with Ayo, Trent, and Curbelo. I understand that people are frustrated because that verbal, a day after signing day, doesn't mean much. We will be sweating till April. Then he lists a final three, then announces he will visit a school that's not on the final three list. You recruit him for years, then Michigan offers on Tuesday and he is visiting soon. Its nuts.

Anyone headed to the Chambana Classic this weekend to check out our guy, Coleman? The more I watch him, the more i like him. Very good nose for the basket, great hands for his size, excellent passer, solid shot from multiple ranges. I think he would be a great compliment to Kofi and probably better fit on the floor together than Kofi and Giorgi. Coleman's only going to get stronger.....

We all know if Ayo don't go pro we're not getting Miller.Maybe he wants to check out Michigan in case Ayo stays.I bet if he goes, we'll have Miller.

Feliz is done after this year. Has no elgibility left. Ayo is most likely gone pro. We have 1 shooting guard left for next year. Need a commitment from a great scoring guard.

It'd probably go to Kouma if Miller doesn't take it.

Hmmmm.... What gives?

"Trent/Andre/Ayo". Ayo? So, are you saying Ayo is a 3-year deal? Going against the grain?

IF Ayo is around next year, then there is no Miller. That is a given.

Where is the open scholie for anyone else then?

Surprised at how few of you posters have the stones for this kind of recruitment.

His announcement is naming a leader, maybe better, because he's said exactly why he doesn't want to sign yet. I get it: we're all worried because opening the door over Ayo staying makes us wonder what other circumstances could cause him to bolt. I'd still rather be in our position than the other schools. Even if subjectively we have a 75% chance of landing him, that's still a position I'm happy to have. No one likes the chaos of a late visit either, and he wants to check out Michigan now that they've come calling. If he truly is concerned about whether he'll get PT here with Ayo, he *should* check out any school that he has as a back-up...even if that means adding a school now.

I'm taking this at face value --i.e. it makes sense under the circumstances even though we don't like it. It's his future.

Well yes Trent/Andre/Ayo would mean he would stay for 3 years....and I think this could very well happen as well. Ayo here does in fact mean no Miller more than likely, (3 yr Ayo is better than 1 yr Miller imo) Also Curbelo for the longterm probably means more to the program than 1 year Miller as well.

If Ayo does leave, and Miller chooses another, open scholly, or a transfer out (likely) and I think we probably know who that will be as well.

The Miller to Michigan thing brings back Zavier Simpson recruit haunts....i believe Mich got in late (dad cold called them?) and I believe Zavier rerouted his return trip from a Wisconsin official visit and dropped by Ann Arbor on the way back to Ohio. And signed shortly after.
