Some would consider Florida a blue-blood.

I think Liddell is going to let this process play out. He's playing with a chip on his shoulder because he knows how underrated he is nationally. When it's all said and done, IL and MO will have been on him the longest, but he's going to have to turn down some big offers to play for either.

Tickle me ILMO

I didn't think that the point was the CM actually devalued players and they missed out on the league. I thought the point was that they had far less success in college than a team of their talent should have.

That's the point I was making at least.

As has been said on here many times before, if you have the talent to play in the league, the league will find you.

But if you play your 1 or 2 or 3 years for CM before moving on, will you enjoy the experience? Track record is not encouraging.

I was initially responding to post 1027 by tv2. Not about college success but whether or not guys get to the league at all.

Are they a contender for Liddell? Or is it probably Mizzo/Illinois and then the next contenders would be blue bloods?

They are a contender. Brad Beal went to FL, and they have a strong pull.

Expect some Blue Bloods to join the mix soon.

I still think it will come down to ILL and Mizzou.

Is this a case of...if he was in Chicago he would be top 50 already?

I don't think it's as simple as that. Liddell played for a very good AAU club on the EYBL circuit, so it's not like he hasn't gotten exposure. It's more that he's been looked at as an undersized big. Now he's developed his face-up game and really become a strong all-around player. Instead of an undersized 4, college coaches are starting to see him as a versatile guy that can play on the wing and be a matchup problem.

And David Lee from Chaminade in St. Louis. Florida was also in on Jayson Tatum pretty early on.

But that was all Billy Donovan. Not sure the Florida connection is as strong to the STL metro area now.

Would be fantastic. Would signicantly increase our chances w Liddell IMO.

I have heard that Illinois was in regular contact and he was not hearing much from dream school. Could be a case of going where he is wanted! I will take that! Dude is a beast!!

Received word that #illini assistant coach Jamall Walker was at Belleville West to check out 2019 prospect E.J. Liddell (@EasyE2432) earlier this evening. Liddell had 19 points at the half. Walker stayed for the entire game. (h/t @StatScinta)

EJ Liddell is probably better than advertised. Races down the floor and hits a floater for 3 at the halftime buzzer, 21 point halftime lead for Belleville West. 19 points for the junior

Ivan Rabb, Jabari Bird, Robert Hubbs, Jarnell Stokes and Jordan McRae were all consensus top 40 players coached by Cuonzo who either went undrafted or have had very underwhelming NBA careers so far. When combined with Jaylen Brown and Josh Richardson, Cuonzo should have much more than the 2 NCAA appearances he has in 6 years at a Power Conference school.

An underwhelming nba career is not on cuonzo as he is not coaching those guys anymore. Who is a guy, like Jalen Brown, who everybody said, “this guy is going to the league for sure,” and didn’t? That usually means 5 star guys coming out of high school.
