Head Scratching, Bathroom Breaks, Late Night Boredom. For me, it means neither our staff coaching a game yet, or BU’s tie to the FBI scandal can be construed as absolute barriers to recruiting misses.

I’m not going to spin this into negativity, so many here feel attacked by certain opinions of others. I’m excited to see what the season brings, and diamonds in the rough late signees we get. BUT, despite Ayo being Ayo, I’m still of the mindset that one kid classes are not healthy.

Respectfully disagree... BU has landed 4 high quality recruits in 6 months!

There will be plenty of options available in the spring after coaching changes, not to mention reclassifications, we will be in good position to take advantage with the two open scholarships.

And we've got 1/3 of the spots filled. And it's a 5 star kid. And there is a Spring signing period to fill the other 2 spots. Come in off the ledge there buddy. You are going to feel awful silly, I'm thinking, when this class is finished.

This. Plus, the FBI investigation will probably free up more kids and there will be a lot of transfers available too (not advocating we take one, just saying that's another stream we may tap). Lots of options and our product will be easier to sell.

Can anybody shed some light on the situation going on @ Champaign Central with the Finke's.??

I something on twitter about this, apparently Jeff cut some kid from the varsity team that was supposed to be good. I guess the hot take people have is that he did so to give Tim more opportunities to shoot this year.

No idea if any of this is true, just what I read.

Saw the kid play at the Highland Shootout last year vs. Chaminade.

He was not by any means D1, but definitely belonged on that Central team. Very strange that he was cut.

Wow! I saw him at that same tourney as well and thought he was a really solid player. No chance he wasn't good enough to be on that team. Something funny going on. Criminal if he misses his senior season through no fault of his own.

Tough tweets by that guy. I spent one year at Central before I moved down here. The AD and others I know who are still associated with the program are class guys. I do not know the Finke family.

Not saying it is the case but we cut a kid this year due to attitude. Sometimes it is not just about the sport.

Alum of Central, but it was long enough ago that I don't have many connections anymore. I think the current AD was there when I was though. I've seen some other things on twitter criticizing this as well. Wouldn't benefit the Finke's to cut this kid (who's clearly good enough) unless there was something wrong behind the scenes. Definitely not buying the nepotism explanation. Surely having a better team for you kid would be most beneficial.

Considering I think he was offered (https://247sports.com/college/illin...-100-Culver-City-guard-Tevian-Jones-109817054)

and the fact that BU just stated 1 more shooter and a BIG in the spring....my guess is that they don't think he is either committing until spring, or the interest might be low even with an offer?:chief:

I don’t think it’s a bad year to be holding open scholarships until spring.

So let me get this straight. Some posters are saying that Finke Sr cut a 5'11" PG so that his 6'5" SG/SF son could get more playing time? Hmmm, interesting. I don't see the logic in that, but some apparently do....

Seemed like the accusation was about getting more shots not more playing time.

Its his dream school. Angered another ACC program this summer by blowing them off to spend more time at UNC on his visit. I have heard this from people that would know here in town. Very few times do I hear something of value but this is one of those cases.

Are u saying that Okoro unofficially visited UNC over the summer? Was it because he was playing in a tournament nearby? From the UNC side, that would be news indeed. Coach Williams did not offer Okoro, instead choosing to offer his AAU teammate James Wiseman. With UNC taking 3 developmental bigs this year, they probably don’t have room for a 4th guy that needs time to develop.

I don’t believe UNC will ever offer Okoro.
