Do not get me wrong, I am loyal to the Orange and Blue to a fault, and I am enjoying my limited time spent in this arena, but I am disappointed when an "insider" speaks with such confidence and assurance about a recruit, only to be wrong in the end. We can make educated guesses, and as true fans, we likely do that daily. But in the end, that is all they really are (educated guesses), and that is okay, as long as we understand that an "insider's" credibility is directly linked to the success rate of his forecasts. The 247 Crystal Ball success rate percentages would presumably reinforce this premise. There is a level of accountability for all. I enjoy the commentary that this place provides, and I am especially fond of the various viewpoints shared by the myriad participants. Needless to say, there are some very informed fans that exist on this site. Yet, what I have learned in all of this is that the only people that truly know the athlete's intentions are the ones living with these recruits, coaching these recruits, or (gulp) paying these recruits. Carry on, keep predicting, continue posting, and I will be ardently reading. I'm simply not going to be repeating to inquiring fans what I read on this site from here on out.

This is one of those days where I re-realize that there is only 2 hours difference between IL and WA, not 3. I think I've refreshed this page 20 times in the past 8 minutes hoping for news. D'oh!

Interesting timing. Usually the "told-you-so" comes after the fact.

Why would you repeat what you hear here in that context anyway? If you're taking this as gospel you're making it your own gospel and that's on you. Don't blame those providing info.

I will say that some very high level “sources” got played on this one, causing a trickle down effect to other smaller vectors of these rumors which made its way to us on the other end.

I'm amazes that so many on this board are so quick to criticize "insider" posters when they give us info that ultimately turns out to be wrong. Not their fault. They are tying to keep us up to date with the prevailing wisdom. Keep criticizing them and they will stop feeding you. It's the primary reason you come to this board.

I think people forget this is a FREE outlet for us to congregate and speculate. Don't blame the hand that feeds you for giving you information that got your hopes up. That's what happens when you receive word from the grapvine... there's bound to be changes or tainted information in the process

When someone speaks with complete authority and certainty, then it seems reasonable that the message is reliable and repeatable. Recently, the reliability has been less than stellar, which taints that person's credibility and mine, as well. Simply put, I gave too much credibility to unreliable sources, and in the end, I was perceived as being just as uninformed as them. As one guy that I know and relate information to so eloquently put it, "Who are your sources, because they are not very reliable?" That comment pertained to both Nesbitt and Hopkins, although if memory serves me correctly, and it might not, there have been more misses than just those. I'm not angry, just a little wiser, and much more careful to repeat any recruiting projections that I read on this site.

Not a single insider has ever said that they speak with complete authority. They say that they have connections, and take their information with a grain of salt. It's always been that way.

If you're so hurt by a high school kid's college selection, you need a new hobby my dude.

Twitter Tim was still hearing both ways as of last night. Hopkins family is saying they intentionally tried to obfuscate the decision by giving different hints to different people. Don't know why anybody would get mad at somebody for passing along what they've heard. But lets be real, none of us are normal stalking internet message boards about the college choices of 18 year old kids. Regardless, just need this season to be played and I'm convinced we will maintain our upward trajectory.

I never understood the narrative of, "we're weird to be following a college kid's recruitment so closely". We're a fan of a sport's team. It's no different from professional sport fans following where a player goes. Not to mention a lot of professional athletes are 18-21... lol
