Very exciting to see a post that a boat-load of talent may be joining. Would love to see the young guys thinking about it this way as well --even recruiting as a team effort!

Conventional wisdom all along has been Illinois and Xavier but Wake has certainly got a great class going and all they need is a pg. I'm sure Manning and Wake will be pressing hard next weekend.
But if you're asking me, all I can say is I have no idea where Ayo ends up. Everybody seems to think he's a done deal to them.

IMO, think Ayo knows where he's going, he is enjoying the attention, which is his right. Take all your visits , let them woo you, then make your announcement when you have your final OV. ;):illinois:

Ayo. #whynotus

We don't have scholarships for everyone, but it seems clear the priorities right now are Ayo, Nolley, THT, Castleton, and Conditt. There's always room for a nice surprise, but I'd be happy with Ayo and any combination of these four guys.

If we win all of our games, we get a #1 seed in the tourney.

According to the 247 class calculator, a class of Ayo, THT, Nolley, and Castleton would give us 59.16 pts, which is currently second only to Arizona (at 61.63).

If there is a better class even remotely available to us, then there must be a surprise in store.

That same 59.16 figure would eventually settle in the 18-25 range once all the uncommitted players pick a school. The "we'd be the No. 1 class" comment is absolutely hyperbole, but a lot of players make similar statements so it's whatever.

If anything, the comment is important because it basically means a group of 3-4 players have been talking to each other about Illinois.

Edit: My bad, just noticed you clarified after bigruss22 said the same thing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah our dream class maybe gets us top 15 in the end. Which is great!! Especially when you consider that Nolley is barely a top-100 with 247 (top 50ish with everyone else). But it takes a few 5-star players to get the top spot. #kentucky

Wake is going to get Devoe for two reasons:
1. They'll take whichever PG wants to come first. Devoe is likely deciding first. Bird in the hand... yada yada yada.
2. Devoe is more of the classic PG with a strong outside shot versus Ayo's playmaking. With the athletic wings committed already, an outside shooting threat to open the lane is probably the most valuable thing the PG could add.

Note this doesn't take into account the likelihood of WF even being able to woo Ayo (which varies depending on who you ask), just that they're likely going to remove themselves from consideration before even seeing if they could.

You also have look at other class rankings than 247's system. 247 is strictly computer based and does weird computations sometimes, such as how Duke has two 5* commits yet is not the #1 class right now.

Mike Devoe may end up in Florida.

I think we all understand that the class would not be number 1, but what I'm interested in is to see how many top 25(ish) classes we can string together in a row. Last year 247 had us at number 30. We don't have to hit top 5 or even top 10 so long as we are having solid recruiting year in and year out, while developing our players. That is where I think Underwood will take the next step that Groce was unable to make.
